Beijing, 7 Jun (Green China) -- The list of new batch of recognized spiritual education bases for scientists has been released a few days ago. The School of Soil and Water Conservation of Beijing Forestry University is on the list of "Writing Papers on the Ground - Academician Guan Junwei Scientist Spiritual Education Base". A total of 147 bases were recognized by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense this year.

It is reported that the Academician Guan Junwei Scientist Spiritual Education Base adopts the form of combining indoor exhibition rooms and field bases to display the scientific spirit of several generations of soil and water conservation scientists represented by Academician Guan Junwei taking root in the grassroots, attaching importance to practice, and writing papers on the ground, as well as the feelings of home and country that care for people's livelihood and are loyal to the motherland.

It is understood that the indoor exhibition room takes the life of soil and water conservation scientists represented by Academician Guan Junwei as the main line, showing the practical spirit of "writing papers on the earth" inherited by soil and water conservation science and technology workers since the first establishment of water and soil conservation courses in 1952, the establishment of the first water and soil conservation major in 1958, and the establishment of the world's only water and soil conservation college in 1992, and the practice of ecological civilization construction from comprehensive management of river basins to integrated protection and systematic management of landscapes, forests, fields, lakes, grass and sand.

Taking the Caijiachuan River Basin in Ji County, Shanxi Province as the core, the field base displays the glorious deeds of the group of scientists of the College of Soil and Water Conservation of Beijing Forestry University who have taken root in the front line of ecological governance of the Loess Plateau and solved major scientific and technological problems in the Yellow River Basin for half a century, as well as the field platform, science and technology demonstration park and science popularization education base system covering the main ecological types of areas in the northwest, the soil and stone mountainous area of North China, the purple soil area in the south, and the karst area in the southwest.

Relevant responsible persons said that under the guidance and support of the China Association for Science and Technology and other units, the Academician Guan Junwei Scientist Spirit Base will carry out publicity and education on the spirit of scientists from the perspective of "building systems, setting standards, building brands, and strengthening characteristics", and continuously improve the level of organization, system construction and brand building of the Spiritual Education Base for Scientists.

It is understood that the Scientist Spirit Education Base is a demonstration place for displaying and publicizing the advanced deeds of individual scientists and teams who have made important contributions to scientific and technological progress, people's livelihood improvement and national development in various historical periods under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and has educational functions, aiming to carry forward the spirit of scientists with patriotism, innovation, truth-seeking, dedication, collaboration and education as the core, and form a strong atmosphere of respecting knowledge, advocating innovation, respecting talents, loving science and dedicating themselves to science in the whole society.

According to reports, there are 669 reporting units this year, involving 162 prefecture-level cities, covering science and technology museums, important scientific research facilities (institutions and platforms), major science and technology engineering memorials (relics), scientific research institutes, memorial halls and former residences of scientific and technological figures, schools, science and technology enterprises and other types.

Up to now, there are 287 spiritual education bases for scientists nationwide, covering 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and the Macao Special Administrative Region.
