Recently, they came up with an astonishing plan to discharge nuclear-contaminated water into the sea. As soon as this news came out, it immediately attracted global attention and controversy.
As a neighboring country, China is certainly most concerned about this issue. At the World Health Assembly, the Chinese representative directly "slapped Japan" in the face, saying that the discharge of Fukushima's contaminated water into the sea is a very terrifying thing and will have a huge impact on the global environment. However, their programme has not been endorsed by the international community. However, South Korea's attitude is disappointing. As a neighbor, South Korea should be more concerned about this issue than choose silence to curry favor with Japan. In fact, South Korea has experienced similar nuclear leakage incidents, and it should be more aware of the harm of nuclear pollution to the environment and human health. We hope that the South Korean government will take this issue seriously and not sacrifice the environment and health for political gain.
As for the United States, their attitude is also incomprehensible. As one of the most powerful countries in the world, the United States should take more responsibility and inject impetus into the global environmental cause. However, the U.S. government has chosen silence on the issue. This begs the question, is the United States no longer a responsible country. If so, then the global environmental protection industry will be in an even more difficult situation.
We cannot let that happen. Nowadays, environmental protection issues have become more and more urgent and need to be jointly addressed by countries around the world. We cannot sacrifice long-term development for short-term gains. Together, we will leave a better planet for the next generation.
Finally, I would like to say that environmental protection is not a matter for one country or one person. Everyone should start with the small things around them, save water and electricity, reduce waste generation, choose environmentally friendly travel methods, and so on.
