Salmon, the popular "small fresh meat" of Japanese sashimi, the new popular king of raw pickling, few people can resist the temptation of this soft and fresh tongue in the hot summer.
Salmon is not only rich in protein, sugars and vitamins, but also rich in omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids, which are essential for the brain, retina and nervous system. However, the long transportation cycle and high price of imports have made it difficult to get rid of the "high cold" fish design for a long time.
How do you get Chinese to eat fresh and affordable salmon?
Salmon is not "easy to keep", the right temperature, air, light are indispensable.
· Temperature: Salmon is cold-water and can only be cultured if the water temperature is maintained at 10-16°C. On the mainland, summer temperatures in the waters of Dalian at the northern tip also exceed 25°C. In the past, China could only basically only be small-scale industrial seawater or low-temperature groundwater aquaculture.
· Air, light: The special physiological structure of salmon means that they need to swallow air through the digestive tract to supplement the gas in the swim bladder when swimming, so in order to raise good quality salmon, you need to "exercise", and under certain light conditions, the fish can swim more happily and grow better.
The scientific research team represented by Gao Qinfeng, professor of Ocean University of China and chief scientist of the National Deep Sea Aquaculture Project, finally found a "cold water mass" with superior conditions in the Yellow Sea, 130 nautical miles from Rizhao coastline, an area equivalent to the size of the entire Shandong Province, and the summer water temperature of the sea water is maintained at 4.6 °C-9.3 °C, and the water quality indicators also meet the standards for breeding cold-water fish.
How many steps is there to turn this "air-conditioned room" into a salmon home?
· In 2017, the "Deep Blue No. 1" cage was put on the line - steel structure, with 10 blue whales weighing, 15 stories high, 8 basketball courts as big, and a capacity of about 40 swimming pools, which is China's first self-developed large-scale fully submersible deep-sea intelligent breeding equipment, and the world's largest aquaculture cage, which can accommodate 300,000 salmon at the same time.
· Considering that such a large steel structure cage will be distorted, deformed and overturned due to the loss of balance of wind and waves, the design also combines shipbuilding technology and offshore oil platform technology, and the structure is more stable, especially wind and wave resistance.
· Combined with submarine-like lifting technology, the dive depth can be adjusted at any time according to the water temperature, so that the fish can live in the appropriate temperature layer.
· Using swim bladder gas and light filling technology, the center cylinder disperses air to the surroundings to replenish the lost oxygen in the swim bladder in real time.
Technical support from various fields, the crystallization of wisdom explored by experts and scholars for many years, and the combination of the entire marine engineering technology of the continent. "Deep Blue One" set off a "domestic salmon mobilization".
In 2021, the first batch of "Deep Blue One" with a total output of 800 tons of salmon was released; In November 2022, the second round of fishing was successfully carried out;
Today, "Deep Blue II" has also begun to develop ... We are getting closer and closer to "salmon freedom".
