[Uzbekistan, there is no backwardness as imagined]
Coming from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, one has a GDP per capita of $10,000 and one has only $2,000, but it is not at all obvious that the difference is so large.
Uzbekistan's infrastructure is very developed, and there is no shortage of subways, high-speed railways, and new airports. The capital, Tashkent, already has four metro lines and opened in 1977, while Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city, currently has only one metro and was only opened in 2012.
In addition, this country with such backward economic data has been connected to high-speed rail, and it is also the only country in Central Asia with a high-speed rail network. The per capita wage in the capital Tashkent is 3,000 yuan per month, and in Almaty it is 4,500 yuan per month.
Tashkent is more modern than Almaty, and the city of Tashkent even has a sense of "Little Dubai in Central Asia". In addition, the city streets here are clean, green, safe and of high national quality.
The GDP per capita of $2,000 is already the level of the "most backward country", but it is really not lower than the per capita GDP I have visited this year in Egypt ($3,000) and Laos ($2,500), and my overall sense is not much different from Kazakhstan.
It seems that the foundation left by the Soviet Union is really good. I traveled through 40 countries, and Uzbekistan was the country where GDP per capita and actual experience I visited the least.
Recently, Sun Paper (002078. SZ) released its 2023 annual report, showing that last year's performance showed a decrease in revenue, but an increase in net profit, but the increase was smaller.
