Mount Fuji

Located in the south-central part of Japan's main island of Honshu, about 80 kilometers east of Tokyo] 35.361° north latitude, 138.728° east longitude, 3776 meters above sea level, straddling Shizuoka Prefecture and Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan, covering an area of about 1200 square kilometers and a volume of about 500 cubic kilometers. Mount Fuji is Japan's highest peak and one of the largest active volcanoes in the world. Mt. Fuji belongs to the Fuji Volcanic Belt, a volcanic chain that starts from the Mariana Islands and passes through the Izu Islands and the Izu Peninsula to northern Honshu.

Mt. Fuji is one of the classic symbols of Japanese spirit and culture, and in the hearts of Japanese people, it is a beautiful and majestic sacred mountain with natural charm. It has been the subject of the acremy of Japanese writers since ancient times, and it is also a sacred place revered by the Japanese and part of Japanese folk religion. Mt. Fuji is conical in shape, and the top of the mountain is covered with snow all year round. Around the foothills of Mt. Fuji, there are five freshwater lakes, collectively known as the "Fuji Five Lakes".

Mt. Fuji is rated as one of Japan's Three Spirit Mountains and Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. In February 1936, Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, known as Hibiscus Peak or Fugatake and Fuji Takayama, it was designated as Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. On June 22, 2013, Mount Fuji in Japan was inscribed on the World Heritage List by the 37th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, becoming Japan's 17th World Heritage Site. When Mt. Fuji was registered on the Heritage List, its registered name was determined to be "Mt. Fuji – The Object of Faith and the Source of Art".
