When the conflict broke out, NATO took a tough position on the situation in Serbia, and Vučić was angry and did not give in

According to the Observer Network, the situation in Serbia intensified, the Kosovo authorities forcibly sent appointed officials into the Serb administration building despite opposition, and the Kosovo police violently expelled the protesting Serb masses. During this period, dozens of Serbs were injured by the use of tear gas, detonation bombs and other lethal weapons. As of the 28th, the situation has not eased, and armoured vehicles are still concentrated in the conflict zone. Affected by the unilateral deterioration of the situation by the Kosovo authorities, Serbian President Vučić ordered the army to move in the direction of Kosovo with the highest combat readiness. The Balkan powder keg of Kosovo risks being rekindled.

Affected by this, the United States, Britain, Germany, France, and Italy jointly issued a statement urging the Kosovo authorities to exercise restraint. He also expressed his opposition to unilaterally aggravating the situation by any side. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg made a strong statement on the situation, saying that the Kosovo authorities and the Serbian side must conduct dialogue under the framework of the European Union as the only way to ensure peace and normalize relations.

The NATO Kosovo Force will continue to operate to ensure security. Western mechanisms, represented by NATO and the European Union, have been working to separate Kosovo from Serbia. NATO's military presence in Kosovo essentially acts as a barrier to Serbia's resolution of the secession issue. At present, Stoltenberg's voice has sent two signals to the Serbian side: First, the Serbian side must accept the EU's arrangement on the Kosovo issue. Second, if the situation deteriorates, NATO's military presence will not stand idly by.

In this regard, Vučić has repeatedly angrily said that the Serbian side will not hand over Kosovo. At present, the pressure exerted by the United States and the West on Serbia highlights its double standard. On the one hand, the United States and the West do not respect the sovereignty of the Serbian side, forcibly create division on the Kosovo issue, and demand that the Serbian side swallow the bitter fruit in various overt and covert ways.

On the other hand, the United States and the West have coerced the Cypriot side to take sides in the Ukraine crisis, demanding that the Serbian side recognize the practices of the United States and the West in Ukraine and impose sanctions on Russia. Such an operation essentially highlights that the United States and the West practice coercion by power, not international justice. The Kosovo issue is like a mirror, reflecting the bullying and capriciousness of the United States and the West. At present, as the Ukraine crisis continues to intensify, the United States urgently seeks to shatter the mirror, this impulse of the United States, or the trigger for the recent chaos in Serbia.

In early May, two shootings in Cyprus were exploited, and the Cypriot opposition and some Western-backed organizations quickly shouted slogans seeking regime change. The Kosovo authorities have also apparently taken advantage of the challenge by forcibly entering Serb administrative buildings with the apparent aim of establishing governance by force in Serb-populated areas. This has violated Serbia's red lines. Vučić's response to these two incidents showed determination and skill. On May 26, Vučić held a rally attended by 200,000 people, attended by the Hungarian Foreign Minister, to support the Cypriot side in defending its sovereignty and upholding independent diplomacy without pressure.

At the meeting, Vučić resigned as chairman of the ruling party in response to the opposition, and the chairmanship was taken over by Serbian Defense Minister Vucevich. Vučić also announced that a national organization would be set up to unite all sectors of Cypriot society to better respond to the crisis. On the same day, at the order of Vučić, the Serbian army was deployed with the highest combat readiness, sending a clear signal to the Kosovo authorities that the rights and interests of Serbs would be defended.

Vučić's actions to retreat and resolutely defend sovereignty injected strength into Serbia's social cohesion. Serbia's national process may thus reach a turning point. Serbia, which is located in the situation of NATO's geopolitical encirclement, is not in an easy situation, and the key to whether Vučić can continue to break the situation lies in whether it can unite and unite the majority of Cypriots and whether it can use military force to determine the situation. And at present, Vučić is also working in these two directions. Serbia is facing turmoil, but it is clear that there are opportunities for disruption in the turmoil.
