The Great Mosque of Shadian was the first Islamic temple I visited in my life. It can be said that it is a coincidence that you can appreciate the grandeur of the Great Mosque of Shadien. Last month, I accompanied my Shanghai friends to Kaiyuan and Mengzi in southern Yunnan for a private investment investigation, and when the car arrived in Shadian, it was almost noon, and my friend who drove with the car proposed to go to Shadian to taste the restaurant for lunch, which was unanimously approved.
I think the name of the hotel is good, and the word "hui" reflects two meanings, which not only indicates that the hotel is operating a Muslim restaurant, but also implies that the restaurant's catering tastes very good, which is unforgettable after eating. Walking into the Aftertaste Hotel, the waiters I saw were all dressed in Hui costumes, with men wearing white hats and women wearing scarves.
Before he was seated, Kaiyuan friends said that the newly built Shadian Grand Mosque is very majestic and worth seeing. Everyone said that since they are here, they might as well visit it. Asked how far the Grand Mosque is from the hotel, the security guard said it would take half an hour to walk and about 5 minutes by car. Given the high temperature and sun at noon, our group decided to drive there.
Turn right out of the Aftertaste Hotel and you will see the straight and wide Muslim Avenue, and from a distance, you can see the Grand Mosque standing at the top. Looking closer, this large mosque consists of a square, a main hall and 4 minarets, which is extraordinary, indeed very large. It is said that the temple covers an area of 90 acres, with a construction area of 17,700 square meters, of which the main hall covers an area of 3,000 square meters, which can accommodate 10,000 people for worship at the same time, and the minaret is 93 meters high.
The name of the square is harmonious, which has its own special meaning, which can be said to be a lesson in blood. Shadian is a Hui settlement where the Shadian Incident, also known as the Yunnan Suppression of the Hui Incident, took place from July 29 to August 4, 1975. In this incident, more than 4,400 houses were blown up, and the large mosque, which was built during the reign of the Ming Dynasty, was also destroyed, with officials saying more than 130 people died, and local Hui people said more than 1,000 died. There is a musical fountain in the center of the square, and an archway is built on each side, and the golden characters "Patriotism" and "Love Religion" are embedded above the archway.
Take off your shoes and socks, step barefoot on the steps in front of the main hall, and your stuffy feet suddenly feel cool. The main hall is composed of domes, arches, cloisters, halls, etc., which are elegant and solemn. The main entrance of the main hall has 3 arcades, with 6 arcades on each side. The Phnom Penh Golden Sun Red Gate of the main hall is very conspicuous and unforgettable. The floor of the worship hall is spotless and bright like a mirror, reflecting people. The holiest place in the hall, the kiln nest opposite the main entrance, is simple and clear, making people feel noble. The series of horseshoe-shaped arc arches of the cloister enrich the visual sense and amaze. The whole hall is not allowed to visitors, which is a pity.
Return to Harmony Square and look up at the 4 minarets to feel new and chic. The bottom of the tower is square, the middle and lower parts are hexagonal, the upper middle part is cylindrical, and the top is conical, slender and tall, and has the tendency to pierce the sky.
Listening to the imam, the Shadian Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the southwest region of the mainland, one of the 100 famous mosques in the country, since its opening, there has been an endless stream of Muslims at home and abroad, which is China's Mecca, and the people of Shadian are proud and proud of it.
