Hibiscus syriacus is a flowering hardy deciduous shrub plant in the genus Hibiscus of the Malvaceae family Malvaceae.
Hibiscus is native to south-central and southeastern China, and was later widely cultivated in most parts of Asia. Hibiscus was collected from the Syrian garden and planted with the word syriacus.
The leaves of hibiscus can be added to tea, and the flowers are edible.
