Niue is an island in the southern Pacific Ocean that belongs to the Polynesian archipelago. Niue is the second largest rising ring-shaped coral reef in the world. It is about 269 km from Tonga and 900 km from the Cook Islands in Singapore.

Niue has approximately 1,700 inhabitants, about 31,000 living in New Zealand and about 5,000 in Australia. Niue's economy is naturally lacking.
