#Wonderful Animals#The platypus is a special mammal that lives in eastern Australia and is considered one of the oldest and most unique mammals in the world. It has a streamlined body, about 40 to 60 cm long, weighs about 1 to 2.5 kg, and has a flat, duckbill-like mouth that can be used to prey on small shrimp, crayfish and other aquatic life.

The platypus has soft, thick hair, usually brown or black, with a white stripe on the back. Their forelimbs have five webbed feet that can be used for swimming, while their hind limbs, like claws, are used to dig burrows and build nests. The eyes and ears of platypus are very small because they are mainly underwater and rely on inductors to catch prey and navigate.

Platypus are oviparous mammals, females lay one egg per year, and after hatching, the pups suck the milk secreted by their mothers until they live independently a few months later. The lifespan of platypus is usually around 10 to 15 years.

Because of its unique appearance and biology, platypus has received a lot of cultural and scientific attention. They are one of Australia's emblematic animals and have also been the subject of much scientific research, contributing to a better understanding of mammalian evolution and adaptation.
