Because of the hoax of the "bamboo blossoms, starving giant pandas" incident, Chengdu Zoo also began to capture wild pandas for artificial captivity, in 1984 "Yingying" (original name: just now) and the rest of the cubs were captured in the wild in the field of Nanping, Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan Province, and returned to the zoo, in 1985, the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe urgently needed a giant panda, so "Yingying" was selected to come to the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe to become a member of it.
Bai Yuling fell in love with this intelligent giant panda when he first met "Yingying", and the story between him and her also began at this time, and it was also from this time that "Yingying" became the only domestic giant panda, living with people in the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe every day and sharing a room with Bai Yuling.
23 years of companionship
Bai Yuling, who is half Italian, is a senior acrobats of the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe, and was selected to become the trainer of "Yingying" because of his good temperament and patience. In order to be able to enter the inner world of "Yingying" and become a confidant friend, Bai Yuling once devoted himself to zoology, psychology and nutrition.
"Yingying, good! Come and eat, and lo and behold, our Yingying will perform, the smartest panda in the world" Every morning, such a kind call can always be heard in the small courtyard of the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe. Under the day and night with "Yingying", Bai Yuling has already regarded him as a family, taking care of "Yingying"'s eating, drinking, and playing with each other every day, I think "Yingying" has long regarded Bai Yuling as a companion!
Under the domestication of Bai Yuling, "Yingying" lived up to expectations and became an artist in the giant panda world, shooting basketball, sliding slides, playing trumpets, driving racing cars, and once went abroad to perform and won various awards, and is also a veritable superstar in the panda industry, participating in "Panda Aji", "World Animal Star Highlights", "English and White" and "Flying Over the Great Wall".
Sometimes, Bai Yuling will sit opposite "Yingying", without saying a word, just look at each other quietly, Bai Yuling has never married in his life because he has devoted his life to his career and "Yingying". She said: "I don't feel tired at all to take care of the panda, because he is the smartest panda in the world, he also knows to defecate in designated places, and his memory is also very strong, you give him two candies this time, and the next time you give only one, he will ask you for it."
The death of "Yingying" and the departure of Bai Yuling
But on May 27, 2009, "Yingying" suddenly fell ill, and the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe immediately invited medical staff from Chengdu Zoo Veterinary Hospital to come to Wuhan for rescue, and finally unable to return to the sky after five consecutive days of rescue, and went to Fat Daxing at 23:30 on May 31 at the age of 25.
After the unexpected death of "Yingying", the panda nursing team spontaneously put on black clothes to express condolences, and the trainer Bai Yunling could not come out of her grief for a long time, Bai Yuling said goodbye to her acrobatic career and returned to Italy, and the panda nursing team member said: "Even now, Mr. Bai can't help but cry when he sees us former panda nursing team members." ”
After "Yingying" died, the Wuhan Acrobatic Troupe finally transported the body of "Yingying" back to the Sichuan where he was born, so that he could return to his roots and souls, and the Chengdu Zoo was responsible for disposing of the body of "Yingying", buried it somewhere in the Chengdu Zoo, and planted trees as a memorial.
