What was once Yugoslavia was divided into six and became: Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is more complex, with Croats, Serbs and Muslims each having different political demands. When Bosnia and Herzegovina held a referendum on independence from Yugoslavia in March 1992, there was resistance from Serbs, but Croats and Muslims were keen on independence. This led Bosnia and Herzegovina to gain independence from Yugoslavia, but then civil war broke out into its own.

It was not until the end of 1995, with the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, that the fighting in Bosnia and Herzegovina was finally extinguished. Under the provisions of the Dayton Peace Agreement, Bosnia and Herzegovina maintained the unity of the State and consisted of two entities, the Mukh Federation and the Republika Srpska, of which the Mukh Federation occupies 51 per cent of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska 49 per cent. The unification of the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina is fragile, as the Mukh Federation and Republika Srpska each have independent governments and parliaments.

Compared to Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina seemed very fortunate, although civil war also broke out, but at least the country remained united. However, with the changing international situation, whether the Mukh Federation and the Republika Srpska can live in harmony is a major test for the central government of Bosnia and Herzegovina. #Historical Trivia # #Europe# #头条创作挑战赛 #
