Now that the election has come to an end, ruling party candidate Peña won the election with 42.93% of the vote.

Even before the election was not held, Allegre said many times that he would choose to sever so-called "diplomatic relations" with Taiwan after he was elected. He believes that Paraguay should instead seek to establish diplomatic relations with China, which will help Paraguay export more goods to China.
Like many small countries, the economy is largely dependent on the export of a wide range of agricultural products. The country has the tenth largest beef export volume in the world and is also the fourth largest exporter of soybeans in the world. Over the past many years, because the country has maintained so-called "diplomatic relations" with Taiwan, various products such as beef and soybeans have been delayed in entering the Chinese mainland market, which has brought considerable losses to the country and does not meet the actual needs of national development. In addition to Allegre, individual candidates also believe that they should instead seek diplomatic relations with China. Even Peña, who won the election, believes that the Chinese mainland market is full of potential.
Paraguay should be clear about the facts
For Paraguay, in terms of developing foreign exchanges, it is more necessary to consider its own interests and needs. Because of maintaining relations with Taiwan, Paraguay has no way to export a large number of goods to Chinese mainland, but in the past, the Taiwan authorities have always paid out of their own pockets to make up for Paraguay's losses.
