Recently, in Lantino in Wales, England, locals started a "war" against wild goats.
Lantino is a coastal town where the calm is broken by sudden stray goats. This group of long-horned "wanderers" suddenly appeared on the street, broke into local hotels and disrupted care homes.
These goats chew on any vegetation they can bite.
A report released by the local council said that after Queen Victoria gifted the goats to the local lord, the goats returned to their wild state and no one or organization would be legally responsible for them. People do not use fences to restrict the movement of Kashmiri goats. But in the 90s, people used shooting to control the excessive growth of goats.
The report said authorities considered various options, including the possibility of shooting goats that were sick, injured or very old. The proposal was supported by all parties, but was reversed after a massive public demonstration in the Bodrundeb Nature Reserve.
It was previously reported that Kashmiri goats have been gnawing on garden fences, gnawing on flowers, running wild through the streets and even fighting in supermarket parking lots. These goats have been surviving in and around the town for more than 100 years, and they rose to fame for occupying empty streets during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. More than 200 goats regularly leave the Great Orm Headlands to roam the streets.
