But many viewers have seen "Manjiang Hong" and feel that they are still unfinished, on the one hand, there are too few scenes, almost the entire film is completed within the high walls of the palace, on the other hand, the language of the historical story is unknown, and many more detailed background explanations are vague.
There are naturally various reasons for this, but a subsequent small-cost Korean film shows this intertwined internal and external court power struggle extremely clearly.
This film is called: "The Night Whip".
There are poems to prove it: day blindness and night shine, and the heart is like a mirror; The adventure is in the end, and the song is righteous.
This is the story of a blind physician who went through court battles and survived.
He suffers from a kind of "day blindness", with dark eyes during the day, and is really blind; In the dark night, he regained some vision, but he was able to see clearly.
The loss of sight brought with him a sense of auditory and tactile nuance, insight that allowed him to study medicine and acupuncture, focus on improvement, and even capture lesions by hearing alone.
He is gentle, avoids gossip, and understands the butcher's lack of two pounds, just to rely on his young brother with a heart disease in this troubled world.
Until he inadvertently showed the stunt of listening to diagnose diseases, he was appreciated by the imperial doctor and entered the palace to become a imperial needle doctor of the imperial court. He and his brother both saw a great opportunity to fight back and change their lives.
After entering the palace, he hides his night vision ability, pretends to be a pig and eats a tiger, while memorizing drugs and paths, and improving his medical skills; While peeping into all kinds of private secrets in the palace, he hid a large number of gossip secrets in his stomach.

The prince's return to the kingdom of Goryeo from the Qing dynasty was cheered and supported, but the previous checks and balances of power were undermined. The sick and weak Renzu, the young grandson, the ambitious Zhao favored concubine, and the Cui Lingxiang, who adheres to the old body, several forces have different intentions, and the conflict is imminent.
Similar to the relationship between the partial Emperor Gaozong of Song and the captured Emperor Huizong of Song and Emperor Qinzong of Song during the Southern Song Dynasty.
The Qing envoys arrived with yellow robes and edicts, symbolizing the arrival of the imperial power of the Great Qing Dynasty. In front of all the royal family members, the crown prince translated an insulting edict against Renzu.
When translating, the prince stood on top and his father knelt below. Such behavior punctures the bottom line. When I heard "I should abolish you", I was even more angry.
Without further explanation, the father-son bond is vulnerable to power struggles. The gap between the two is under this kind.

One night, the crown prince suddenly fell into a coma, and the imperial doctor was urgently summoned to the palace and began to rescue the prince with a blind doctor.
However, the blind doctor gradually realized that the imperial doctor was not saving the prince, but poisoning him with the prepared medicine.
The vision restored in the dark confirmed his senses.
Between heaven and earth, only he witnessed this huge truth with his own eyes.
He felt the kindness of the crown prince and was moved by the pure and righteous grandson, and decided to help the prince reveal the truth.
However, in the struggle for imperial power, there is no definite truth, only whether it is in the interests and whether it is in the interests or not.
The blind doctor first followed Zhao's favorite concubine and decided to tell the truth in front of everyone. As a result, Renzu did not want the truth to be revealed, and under the conspiracy of several parties, Zhao was framed instead.
Then the blind doctor followed Cui Lingxiang, thinking that he could use the handwriting of Renzu's left hand to discern the truth. He used acupuncture as an excuse to paralyze Renzu's right hand and only write with his left hand, which coincided with the edict of the murder of the crown prince.
But Cui Lingxiang didn't need the truth, he got the handwriting, just as a bargaining chip. Blind doctors are once again in trouble.
Until the end, the blind doctor was cornered and had to tell the truth under the sun, and was slashed by the angry Renzu with a knife. In the face of the history written by the victor, the blind doctor at the ordinary bottom has no chance of victory, the favored concubine is given death, the prime minister is reconciled with Renzu, the truth is covered up, the blind doctor and his grandson are expelled and wandered, and justice seems to be silent again.
The film ends with a fairly bright ending, where the insidious are ended, the truth is revealed, justice is done, and this is not so much an ideal as a beautiful imagination and wish.
The first half of the Korean film "The Night Lord" is a little too long, and before the conflict comes, you need to be patient and listen to the personal introduction of the blind doctor.
Fortunately, the battles in the palace are concise and wonderful, with only a few strokes, outlining the prince's lightness, the sinister concubine, the forbearance of Renzu, and the gentleness and kindness of blind doctors, with justice in mind.
It was not until the suspense in the back created tension, several clues alternately advanced, and finally stacked into a climax in the same scene, that the film officially entered the highlight part.
"Manjiang Hong" and "Night Lord" also revolve around the power and palace fight, but the emphasis and narrative techniques are very different.
"Manjiang Hong" is very meticulous in writing the process of preparation and planning, showing the lyricism of sacrificing life and righteousness, and trying to lay the groundwork for the emotional foundation of each character.
Although it took three hours, it still seemed big and inappropriate, the emotions were not full, and the emotional clues were slightly scattered, so it was never possible to deeply empathize.
"The Nighthawk" focuses on only one character of the blind doctor, so it can be more focused, and at the same time focuses on how to detect a conspiracy, how to get rid of suspicion and achieve justice, so the individual is extremely outstanding.
After all, for ordinary audiences, personal fate can guide the viewer's emotions more directly, unlike the feelings of home and country, which need more foreshadowing and construction.
Of course, "Nighthawk" also has to worry about investment and film length, stretched thin in many places, and the twist is too blunt. It is estimated that the original setting was a completely blind person, but later it was found that some passages must have some vision, which made a strange setting that could not be seen during the day and slightly recovered at night.
In Korean films and Korean dramas, we rarely reflect the feelings of home and country that we are familiar with, and in order to collectively endure the grand pattern of self-encouragement, they mostly start from themselves and stand at the level of human nature to think tangled, which is not superior, just a display of different sides.
