๐ Thailand's national flower is the yellow golden rain flower (Golden rain tree), also known as Ratchaphruek or Indian golden chain flower.
๐ Since yellow represents the royal family in Thailand, it is also known as the royal flower. Golden rain trees are widely planted as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical regions. It blooms in hot and dry weather in late spring and early summer.
๐ There are many flowers, the trees are full of yellow flowers, and many times the leaves are barely visible. It grows well in dry climates, and the tree is best suited for growing on sunny, well-drained soil. It is relatively drought tolerant and slightly resistant to salinity. It can tolerate brief frosts, but it can be damaged if the cold persists.
๐ In India, people sometimes eat the flowers of the golden rain tree. The leaves are also used to supplement the diets of cattle, sheep and goats fed with low-quality forage. In Indian Ayurvedic medicine, the golden rain tree is called aragvadha, which means disease killer. Pulp is considered a laxative and self-care medicine.
๐ In neighboring Laos, blooming flowers are locally known as dok khoun, associated with the traditional Lao New Year. In April, people worship these flowers in the temple and also hang them at home for the New Year, believing that these flowers will bring happiness and good luck to the family.
