According to official data released by the United States, the total number of combat attrition (including killed, wounded, missing and captured) in the Peninsular War was 140,000, and the total number of combat attrition including wounded by the United Nations forces exceeded 1 million. In addition to a large number of casualties, the US-led United Nations forces also lost a large number of weapons, equipment and materials, including more than 10,000 military aircraft, more than 3,000 tanks, and nearly 300 ships. 2. Sino-Indian Border Self-Defense Counterattack (June-November 1962)
This was a local war that broke out due to the Indian invasion, and although China advocated peaceful negotiations to resolve disputes, India was bent on using force. The way of peaceful settlement has been rejected by India's actual actions, and in the face of India's armed occupation, the mainland will inevitably fight back. In this war, our army suffered more than 1,300 casualties, while the Indian army suffered more than 5,000 casualties.
Frankly speaking, the mainland actually had a certain disadvantage in the Sino-Indian War, because the logistics supply base of the Indian army was close to the battlefield, the transportation route was short and convenient, the supply was relatively convenient, and there were weapons supplies from the two major powers of the United States and the Soviet Union. The logistics department of the Chinese border troops is far from the interior, not only the route is long and the means of transportation are backward, but it is relatively difficult to supply. However, our army fully took into account the characteristics and complexity of war, made use of its advantages of being good at fighting in harsh environments and its mobile and flexible strategy and tactics, and took advantage of its strengths and avoid its weaknesses and ultimately won victory.
3. Anti-US Aggression and Aid to Vietnam (June 1965-August 1973)
In 1965, the United States used the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident" to launch a war of aggression, not only "fighting south and bombing" Vietnam but also sending military planes to drop bombs over China's Hainan Island, Yunnan, Guangxi and other areas, causing casualties. 5. Sino-Vietnamese Border Self-Defense Counterattack (February 17-March 16, 1979)
In the 70s, with Soviet support, Vietnam embarked on the road of expansion, not only invading Cambodia, but also trying to encroach on the Sino-Vietnamese border. On February 17, 1979, China officially launched a self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, occupying more than 20 Vietnamese towns in just half a month, and then announced its withdrawal on March 5.
