Diego Garcia Island is a US military base in the Indian Ocean, covering the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Africa, and its strategic location is particularly important.

The island is one of the Charles Islands. The Charles Islands have been under the control of the British since they were occupied in 1810. It came under British jurisdiction of Mauritius in 1903 and the British split the archipelago from Mauritius in 1965, which became independent from colonial status in 1968.

Back in 1966, the Americans leased Diego Garcia Island to Britain for 50 years and could be renewed for 20 years at the expense of the "Polaris" sea-based strategic nuclear launch system. So far, it has become an important US military base, aircraft carrier formation, strategic bombers, and has an army establishment of 4,000 people.

In late February 2019, the International Court of Justice in The Hague declared the British occupation illegal and the U.S. lease naturally untenable and should be returned to Mauritius.

However, contrary to expectations, the United Nations was slapped in the face by imperialist hegemony.
