On the same day, Haima Automobile announced that it and Toyota Motor (China) signed the Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the Field of R&D and Industrialization of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles, and the two parties will carry out extensive strategic cooperation in the field of R&D and industrialization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and jointly promote the rapid popularization and industrialization of hydrogen fuel cell passenger vehicles.
This means that Haima Motor and Toyota Motor have joined forces and are ready to work hydrogen energy. As we all know, the former Haima car, because of the foundation of Mazda, is also unlimited in the Chinese market, and the sales of the highlight moment have exceeded 200,000 units, but with the intensification of competition and the development of new energy, the sales of Haima car began to decline year by year, once brought with the label of *ST, relying on "selling houses" and "foundry" to survive!
But this is not the norm after all, as a traditional car company, car manufacturing is its main industry, since fuel vehicles are not good, then it is inevitable to transform new energy, but the competition of electric vehicles is extremely fierce, there are joint venture brands, traditional independent brands, and new forces of car manufacturing, if you enter the electric vehicle industry again, then Haima Motor's chances of winning are really small, so another way to develop hydrogen energy vehicles, is not a good idea, at least there is a possibility of winning.
In this regard, Toyota still has a certain right to speak, after all, it has more than 20 years of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle research and development experience, and launched the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell sedan Mirai in 2014, and released the second generation of models in 2020, so Haima chose to cooperate with Toyota, which is also a more correct choice for its own development. Of course, it is also an important development opportunity for Toyota, and overall, it is a win-win outcome.
According to the plan, the two parties will use Hainan Island as a large-scale experience test ground, and will use mature components and systems, including Toyota's second-generation Mirai stack, on the third-generation hydrogen fuel cell vehicle of Haima Motor, to complete the development of vehicle adaptability, and implement the test in combination with the company's self-built hydrogen energy supply system and travel network. In addition, the 7X-H hydrogen passenger car jointly cooperated by the two companies has completed engineering design, and the first functional prototype may be trial-produced at the end of April this year.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first time Toyota has supplied hydrogen fuel cell systems to Chinese passenger car manufacturers. It has to be said that Haima Automobile and Japanese car companies are still related, from the previous Mazi to the current Toyota, Haima Automobile has been constantly seeking new breakthroughs. It is reported that the cooperation model is from Haima Motor, and Toyota Motor provides technical support to jointly promote the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the Chinese market.
As the first province in China to propose a timetable for "banning the sale of fuel vehicles" in 2030, Hainan Province does have great determination to develop new energy, which also provides good conditions for the commercialization of hydrogen energy; As the only vehicle manufacturer in Hainan Province with new energy and traditional fuel vehicle production qualifications, Toyota Motor is always inseparable from the support of Haima Motor if it wants to obtain a larger market for hydrogen energy. Compared with the development of pure electric vehicles, although hydrogen energy is still in a very "weak" position, in the long run, it still has unique advantages in the field of energy conservation and emission reduction, first of all, it can achieve real zero pollution, and finally generate pollution-free water; Secondly, hydrogen accounts for 75% of the mass of the universe and is widely distributed, which can alleviate the energy crisis.
