Short-eared owl, is a species of owl in the genus Long-eared Owl of the Owlaceae family, also known as short-eared owl, and because the ear feathers are shorter than the long-eared owl, it is also called small-eared wood rabbit, short-eared cat. Bright yellow eyes with black eye shadow around the eyes. The ear feathers are short and the pectoral feathers are brown with no fine markings. Unlike ordinary owls, short-eared owls prefer grassy open fields and are often seen during the day, but are unstable in sunlight. It eats voles at night and insects during the day. Most of them are winter migratory birds or travel birds, and a few are resident birds, which are national second-class protected animals in China.
This is my second time shooting short-eared owls, and according to old photographers, these two short-eared owls have been here for half a year since last November. Every day, dozens or hundreds of bird-hunting enthusiasts come here to shoot. Everyone affectionately calls them "kittens".
