There are many novelties in Singapore Zoo, and today we will introduce the smallest deer, the Javan mole deer (Java mouse-deer).

The Javan mole deer is endemic to the Indonesian island of Java and is the smallest deer in the world. They are petite, weighing only 1 to 2 kilograms, and look not much bigger than mice.

The Javan mole deer are the world's smallest ungulates and usually inhabit tropical forest areas in Southeast Asia. They inhabit dense forests, near rocks and near water. If you're lucky enough to come across one, don't mistake it for a mouse. #See the world in the headlines ##新加坡 #
