At the beginning of the Kingdom of Dali, Tengchong Province was established. At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Teng Yue Wei was established. In the twenty-sixth year of the Kangxi Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty (1687), Wei was changed to a prefecture. In the twenty-fifth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1820), he was promoted to the direct subordinate office. Tengyue Hall has jurisdiction over seven toasts such as Nandian and Mengxuan.
In October 1911, the Xinhai Revolution Tengyue Uprising took place. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Tengchong Mansion was established. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Tengchong County was established. In the territory of Tengchong City, there are more than 20 ethnic groups such as the Dai ethnic group living here. Tengchong's border with Myanmar is nearly 150 kilometers long; It is about two hundred kilometers to Myitkyina.

Since the Western Han Dynasty, Tengchong has been an important port to Southeast Asia. In the second year of Guangxu (1876) of the Qing Dynasty, the Qing court agreed to the request of the British, and Yunnan opened its port for trade. In the 16th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1890), the Yunnan-Burma Commercial Treaty was signed. In the twenty-fifth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1899), the British Tengchong Consulate was established.
【Tengchong Architecture】In the 28th year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1902), Tengyue Customs was officially established in Tengchong; The Customs and Excise Department was controlled by the British, and the taxes and fees collected were used to offset the Qing court's reparations. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the People's Dynasty, Tengchong merchants gathered and the market prospered. A large number of multinational commercial banks and branches of large domestic companies have emerged at Tengchong Port.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), local Zhang Shaosan (1882-1914, the governor of Xiedu and Dali of Yunnan Province) convened and organized local squires and funded the construction of the Taiji Bridge. On the imposing Dieshuihe waterfall, a double-hole cantilever stone bridge erected in the sky appeared; This bridge is made of stone piers and paved stone strip deck.
【Tengchong City Wall】In the tenth year of the Ming Dynasty (1445), in order to strengthen the defense of the southwestern frontier, the construction of Tengchong Stone City began; Completed three years later; It is known as the first city on the extreme edge. In the fifth year of the Kangxi Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty (1666), Wang Lu, then Zhizhou, carried out repairs to the city. In the forty-ninth year of Qianlong (1784) of the Qing Dynasty, Zhu Jinchang (Zhizhou) rebuilt the city.

Tengchong in Yunnan is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, with more than 160,000 overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Tengchong has many scenic spots and rich cultural resources, and in the late eighties, it became a famous historical and cultural city (provincial level).
