#历史开讲 #

Qin Shi Huang as a famous tyrant in Chinese history.

After Qin unified the Six Kingdoms, King Huanzheng of Qin recognized himself as "meritorious three emperors, meritorious to Emperor Wu", so he called himself the "First Emperor", and there were countless atrocities in his life, such as "burning books and pit Confucianism", which caused huge losses to ancient Chinese culture.

So? What is the most right thing Qin Shi Huang has ever done in his life?

In 214-210 BC

After Qin Shi Huang established the first unified centralized state in Chinese history, after reforming the state system and unifying the currency, the Qin state faced the invasion of the northern Xiongnu.

The Xiongnu are a group of nomads in the desert and steppes of ancient Mongolia in China, most of them living in the harsh environment of the Gobi Desert, they are brave and good at fighting, especially good at riding.

In 214 BC, Qin Shi Huang sent the general Meng Tian to pacify the Xiongnu. Meng Tian lived up to expectations and successfully recovered the Hetao area with 300,000 troops. In order to avoid the Xiongnu invasion of the south again, and in order to ensure the territory of the Qin Dynasty, Qin Shi Huang decided to tear down all the city walls built by the princes and countries in the country, and then use the natural mountain situation to set up a barrier fortress to connect the Great Wall in the north of the three kingdoms of Zhao, Yan and Qin, and then lengthen the connected Great Wall to form an unbreakable and strong barrier against aggression.

As a military fortification left over from ancient China, the Great Wall is one of the most spectacular cultural heritage sites in the world today. In order to build the Great Wall, Qin Shi Huang could be described as hurting the wealth and laborers, and there were hundreds of thousands of soldiers and laborers sent to build the Great Wall alone. The 600,000 troops sent by the State of Qin when it attacked the State of Chu were almost all the troops of the State of Qin at that time, and there may be some young laborers who were temporarily captured to fill the number. And the soldiers sent to build the Great Wall are hundreds of thousands, if you count the common people, what an astronomical amount. It can be said that at that time, the Qin State almost arrested all the men who could work to build the Great Wall. And the lack of social labor has also made the people complain, who have not covered their clothes and hunger, and now life has become more difficult.

In that era of extremely underdeveloped transportation, productivity and technology, such a huge and arduous project, the suffering in it is unimaginable to us modern people. Countless people fell at the foot of the Great Wall, creating the Great Wall that people can't see at a glance now.

Construction of the Great Wall of Qin took five years and was not completed until 210 BC. The Great Wall stretched for more than 10,000 li from Lin Tao (present-day Tao River in southern Gansu Province) in the west to Liaodong in the east. In ancient times, when science and technology were not developed, it has to be said that such a great construction project can come out, which has to be said to be a miracle in the history of human architecture.
