On March 20, according to Thai media reports, Athapong, acting director of Thailand's Department of Oceanic and Coastal Resources and Thailand's Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, revealed that not long ago, the Department of Conservation learned that a group of Vietnamese people stole agarwood at the Phu Khiao Wildlife Sanctuary in Khlong Son County, Chaya Phong Province, Thailand, and finally arrested six Vietnamese after investigation.
The person in charge of the above-mentioned wildlife sanctuary revealed that after receiving the relevant tip, the relevant departments immediately began to track up and formulate an arrest plan, which took nearly two months. During the arrest of the suspect, the staff simultaneously seized two transport vehicles and 173 kilograms of agarwood. Subsequently, all of them were taken to the police station for detention, and subsequently prosecuted in accordance with the relevant laws of Thailand.
It is understood that a group of Thais and Burmese from Sakai province stole agarwood in the above-mentioned reserve, but since 2008-2009, it has gradually become Vietnamese to steal and disappear after being cracked down. As the coronavirus stabilized, the aforementioned thieves made a comeback around the end of 2022. It is also known that the above-mentioned gangs can stay in the forest for up to 45 days, and they are very familiar with the local route, and there are still many gangs operating here.
