Faye Wong's album has many names, because from the official naming, it is a standard artist album of the same name, so it can be called "Faye Wong's album of the same name".

The first album of the same name is Faye Wong's first album in the real sense, that is, "Wang Jingwen" released in "New Art Treasure Records", this album is good to say, after all, the name Wang Jingwen is still used, and it can be distinguished from the later Faye Wong album of the same name. But the terrible thing is that Faye Wong also released an album of the same name after transferring to "EMI Records" at a high price in 1997, and she used the name of Faye Wong back to this album.
At the same time, in 2001, when Faye Wong released the last album during the contract period of "EMI Records", she also used Faye Wong as the album name, so that in just four years of "EMI Records", she released two albums of the same name, one and one end, which is really the audacity of the artist. Because looking at the Chinese music scene, there are not many singers who can do this, but there are really none.
Therefore, later, for the convenience of communication, fans also called Faye Wong's two albums during the "EMI Records" period "Faye Wong 97" and "Faye Wong 2001" respectively.
Another conventional practice in the Chinese music scene is simpler and more effective, that is, to rename the album with the most well-known songs in the album, which is regarded as a second name by the market. The song "Flowing Year" is the work of Chen Xiaojuan, Chen Xiaojuan is also a singer who has moved from front to back the scenes, before creating "Flowing Year" for Faye Wong, she also wrote "Overthrow" for Faye Wong in the album "Only Love Strangers", but compared to "Flowing Year" and later "Empty City" written for Faye Wong, "Overthrow" is a work that does not have such a sense of existence for the prime minister, not Faye Wong's fans, and many people may not remember that Faye Wong had such a song.
But the song "Flowing Years" is also very controversial in the album "Faye Wong 2001". On the one hand, it was this song that supported Faye Wong's popular communication card in mainstream channels at that time, because the experimental nature of the album itself, except for this "Flowing Year", is really not particularly suitable for songs that can be out of the circle in the environment at that time.
But on the other hand, as a very experimental album, the ballet attribute of "Flowing Years" is somewhat incompatible with the other works of the album.
This point, in fact, after Faye Wong joined "EMI Records", it has always been a problem, such as "The World" in the "Faye Wong 97" album, and "Red Beans" in the "Singing Tour" album, which is also the abrupt existence of this ballet type. But when it comes to destroying the unity of the album, a new question arises, that is, does Faye Wong's "Faye Wong 2001" have unity? In addition to using empty experimental, avant-garde and other words, you can barely unify the temperament of the album work, and the reality in addition to this is that the album itself is a "stewed" album.
However, Faye Wong's album has proved a common truth with practice, that is, not all subjective breakthroughs and attempts will yield a good result. Breakthrough, avant-garde, pioneer itself should not become an innate compliment, but a neutral word.
For example, "Wings of Light" and "The Bible for Two" in this album are the best examples of comparison.
Although the main structure of "Wings of Light" is rock, Liang Qiaobai actually incorporates some elements of electrification, industrialization and string music in the process of arranging, so that the work has a baroque layer and atmosphere in addition to the sound of heavy rock.
"Wings of Light" can also be said to be Faye Wong's heaviest song ever, the sound of the guitar wall is simply overwhelming, and Auto-Tune's vocal processing is also used just right. And this song later became the most out-of-the-loop song in this album except "Flowing Years", and it has been covered in some musical ensembles, such as Zhou Bichang's version on "I am a singer", which has become a very important factor in the relay inheritance of the song "Wings of Light".
The success of the song "Wings of Light" also lies with the band. In order to record this song, Leung invited Wong Chung-yin, a Hong Kong guitar god, to play guitar, and also invited Melchior Sarreal to play drums.
Speaking of Melchior Sarreal, he is generally introduced by Jacky Cheung's royal drummer, which is not wrong, after all, Jacky Cheung's rock masterpiece "The Legend of the Hungry Wolf" is Melchior Sarreal's drum.
But from the perspective of the band, when introducing Melchior Sarreal, we have to mention a very important, but often overlooked, band in the early era of Hong Kong's "sandwich band" - "The Princess".
The band has only released one album in its history, 1985's "Lady Diana", because of the large number of taboo themes involved, so many of the band's songs were banned on the radio at the time.
In addition to Melchior Sarreal, the members of the "Princess" band include Lee Zhenquan, who later became Eason Chan's co-partner, and Lee Zhenquan is also the producer of the "Black Panther" band's debut album. In addition, Angus, the creator of all the works of the band "Princess", later excavated Chan Wai Han, Lo Minzhuang and Lai Ruien for the Hong Kong music scene.
But corresponding to "Wings of Light", Faye Wong has a problem with Wu Bai's cooperation unit in this album.
Because of the "red eyes" of "A Golden Flower" made by Wu Bai for Mo Wenwei, Faye Wong also thought of finding Wu Bai to make songs for her when planning this album.
And Wu Bai brought two works, one is "The Bible for Two People", the other is "One Way Road", the latter is Wu Bai's signature style, and the former is a kind of customized style of "A Golden Flower".
But "The Bible for Two" is really not a success, the melody does not jump, the rhythm is relatively stiff, and Faye Wong's singing in it is also very different from the music.
The most interesting thing is that after the new album was released, Faye Wong complained about this collaboration in a very tactful way in an interview with Taozi. It probably means that because I didn't find Wu Bai to do the entire album, coupled with the relatively short cooperation time, I couldn't achieve the effect of "A Golden Flower".
To tell the truth, over the years, I have participated in many singers' auditions and press conferences, and generally on the spot, singers and producers will blow rainbow farts to each other. When it comes to complaining, at most, only partners who have a very good relationship with each other will tease each other in a coquettish way, like Faye Wong who frankly said that the cooperation is not satisfactory, not very few, but none, not one!
So, many times, some people love not only Faye Wong's songs, but also her character, right.
In this "Faye Wong 2001", Faye Wong was more satisfied with hearing two Tsai Jianya's demos, so she also included these two songs in the album, and Cai Jianya at that time was still a prospective newcomer for the Chinese music scene.
But then there was still "oolong", "Mistaken" appeared in the album, its original "It's Your Chance", Tsai Tanya has actually released an English version in Singapore before, for a singer of Faye Wong's level, it is equivalent to inviting new songs to become "covers"...
However, there is one thing to say, "Wait" and "Typo Wrong", the two songs written by Cai Jianya, are still very good.
"Sometimes Love Has a False Name" created by "Deep White" is also very good, and I think Liang Qiaobai's arrangement should have transformed the original appearance of the song, and the harmony of the chorus plus Auto-Tune has changed the original temperament of the melody.
Another Jin Wulin's "Wandering Red Dancing Shoes", this artistic song, is almost the ceiling of this field of Chinese music, and twenty years later, you can still hear this taste in the current album of the same type. If it's a female voice, nine times out of ten, even the singing voice still has that taste.
"Faye Wong 2001" was actually not very good at that time, whether it was word of mouth or sales, and the sales volume was obviously far from the expectations that the record company wanted. And this album's "stew" approach, although the creation and production lineup is considered to be the top, but the difference is indeed too large, coupled with the absence of a real full-time producer, but also led to the lack of an internal main line as an album, many fans listened to this album at the time, left only a "chaotic" word.
The physical recording of the album is also interesting. When it was released in Hong Kong, it was divided into two records, one containing eleven tracks of ten Chinese works, of which "Wandering Red Dancing Shoes" has two versions. The other is a Cantonese EP, among which "Lost Soul" by Nicholas Tse, "Color Blindness" by Leung Keijue and "Sleepless Flight" by Kwok Wai Leung are all Cantonese originals.
And "The Queen's New Clothes" is the Cantonese version of "Typed Wrong", and "Heart Road" is the Cantonese version of "Sometimes Love Has a False Name".
However, after the introduction of this album from "Zhongsing Shanghai", it was compressed and adjusted, that is, the capacity of one album and one EP were put into one album at the same time, and the ordering only moved the original "Wandering Red Dancing Shoes" (piano version) of the original Chinese album part to the end of the album, and inserted five Cantonese works after the song "One Way Road", and also had an exclusive version of the mainland that was more environmentally friendly and frugal.
When the album was released in Japan, two versions of the Japanese song "Separate Way" were added.
