This is the first time that Iran, as a major fruit grower in the Middle East, has been granted access by the General Administration of Customs on the mainland. As a traditional agricultural and pastoral country, Iran is the world's largest producer of 14 kinds of agricultural products, accounting for about 12% of its GDP. Iran produces about 5.5 million tons of citrus per year, ranking among the top 10 in the world. It is also reported that in February this year, Iranian apples were also approved by the General Administration of Customs of the mainland, becoming the second Iranian fruit allowed to be exported to China after citrus. With the official opening of the China-Iran fruit air corridor, Sino-Iranian agricultural products will become a new expansion point for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and Iranian citrus and apples are also expected to become the new favorite of Shanghai's fruit consumption market after Chilean cherries, New Zealand kiwifruit and Mexican avocados.
