Moldovan official language changes, enigmatic operation?

author:Taizhou Xiaohong

Recently, the Moldovan Parliament passed a bill to change all legal texts and the official language provided for in the Constitution to Romanian. The official language currently stipulated in the country's Constitution is Moldovan.

Has the official language changed? Do not be led by the operation of the Romanian Moldovans, in fact, this is just a technical change, in other words, the language has not changed, only the name has changed.

Historically, Moldova belonged to Romania and was later ceded by Russia and the Soviet Union. In Soviet times, Russian was commonly spoken, and only a few people spoke Moldovan. After Moldova's independence in 1991, the Constitution called Moldovan the official language, while Romanian was called in the Declaration of Independence.

In fact, Moldovan is not even a dialect of Romanian, because it is standard or authentic Romanian, but it is called differently. Moldovan, in fact, is the name given to the Romanian language in the "German-left" region; It is also the contradictions in the German-left region that have not dared to revise this title.

Now, why did the Moldovans change the name "Moldovan" to "Romanian"?

First, most Moldovans believe that the Moldovan language is a product of the Soviet Union's use to strengthen Moldovan identity.

Second, the Russian-Ukrainian war has made Moldovans feel the crisis and found an opportunity.

Third, Moldova is seeking to join the European Union.

Fourth, it was amended to bring it into line with a December 2013 ruling of the Constitutional Court, the Declaration of Independence takes precedence over the Constitution and the official language is Romanian.

Fifth, it is well known that many Moldovans want to return to their mother's arms.

Moldova, I'm afraid it's really going to change!
