The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Republica de Guinea Ecuatorial (Spanish: República de Guinea Ecuatorial), abbreviated as Equatorial Guinea, is located in west-central Africa, 2.21°-0.55°N, 9.20°-11.25°E.

It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Cameroon to the north and Gabon to the east and south. It consists of the Muni River area on the mainland and the islands of Bioko, Anoben, Corisco in the Gulf of Guinea,

The total land area is 28051.46 square kilometers, which belongs to the equatorial rainy climate.

History

In 1471~1778, Portugal successively occupied Anoben, Bioco, Corisco and other islands.

In 1778, Portugal transferred the coastal area from the Ogowe River (in present-day Gabon) to the Niger River, including the three islands mentioned above, into the Spanish sphere of influence.

In 1845, Spain established colonial rule in Chichi.

In January 1964, Chiji instituted "internal self-government".

On 12 October 1968, independence was officially declared and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea was established.

On January 1, 2018, Equatorial Guinea officially became a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. The term of office expires on 31 December 2019.

It is rectangular in shape and has a ratio of 3:2 to length-to-width. The side of the flagpole is a blue isosceles triangle, and the right side is three parallel wide stripes, from top to bottom, green, white and red, and the flag has a national emblem in the center.

Green symbolizes wealth, white symbolizes peace, red symbolizes the spirit of struggle for independence, and blue symbolizes the sea.

Located at the northern tip of Bioko Island. The population is about 210,000 [1]. The average annual temperature is about 25°C, and the annual precipitation is about 1900 mm.

The Malabo City Street is square in shape, with 6 north-south streets intersecting vertically with 6 east-west streets. Most of the houses in the city are two-story buildings with square or arched front porches in the Spanish style, while modern high-rises are rare. The Presidential Palace, the Cathedral and the Bank Building are some of the famous buildings in the area. Bioko Island is a volcanic island with beautiful scenery and is known as the "Pearl of the Gulf of Guinea". The outskirts of Malabo are verdant and dotted with lakes formed by volcanic craters.
