Li Ropewu is good, why did he break with the family? To this end, Li returned to the United States early, fearing that he might be detained in Singapore.
In 2020, a Singapore court convicted Lee in contempt of court, fined S$15,000 or imprisoned for one week, and had to pay S$16,570 in court costs. Mr. Lee chose to pay the fine to avoid the Singapore government attacking him and his family.
Why did Lee Rope choose to stand up and shoot at Lee Hsien Loong three years later? It turned out to be a will involving former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, whose descendants Lee Hsien Loong and the rest of the Lee family had serious disagreements over the will.
The centerpiece of Lee Kuan Yew's will was the demolition of Lee Kuan Yew's private home (known domestically as the Former House). The current Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, considering Lee Kuan Yew as the largest political capital of his rule and the symbol of Singapore's Lee regime, resolutely refused to demolish the Lee Kuan Yew House, while other members of the Lee family insisted on obeying Lee Kuan Yew's will and demolishing the house to avoid the "personality cult" proposed by Lee Kuan Yew during his lifetime.

On March 2, Singapore's State Counsellor and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Teo Chi-yin, revealed that police were investigating Lee Kuan Yew's second son, Lee Hsien Yang, and his wife, for allegedly giving false confessions in the incident with Lee Kuan Yew's will. Lee Hsien Yang, the younger brother of current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and his wife Lim Xuefen are currently living overseas, and Cheung has called on the two to assist in the investigation. Lee fears that in Singapore, the authorities could detain you indefinitely under inhumane conditions without giving you access to a lawyer in time.
The Singapore authorities used the lawsuit as an excuse to rewrite Lee Kuan Yew's will to match Lee Hsien Loong's claims. According to Li Ropewu, this was all several years after the will was read and granted probate. When the will was read, Lee Hsien Loong did not raise any objections.
For a long time, some characteristics of the Singapore government were considered strict, such as government control of speech, the media, and civil society, as well as restrictions on some political activities, which were considered by some to be expressions of authoritarianism and often attracted criticism from Western countries. The Singapore government's punitive measures, in particular, could also draw criticism from Western countries. Singapore is one of the few countries where flogging is still used, a practice that is considered cruel and inhumane in some countries.
