Fashionable breastplates, imagining the future and power

Fashionable breastplates, imagining the future and power

Metal cuirasses made with high technologies such as 3D printing,

Both a symbol of perfect feminine strength,

And shining with a futuristic style,

When technological progress continues to break people's imagination of the future,

Perhaps a change in dress is also quietly underway.

The fashionable breastplate, which is popular today, is closely related to ancient metal armor. The word "armor" appeared in the Middle Ages, dating back to 1297, and refers to "armor, defensive shields worn in battle."

Originally made of a variety of materials, armor first used leather or fabric, and later evolved to be molded in one piece through chain mail or sheet metal to better protect people from weapons in battle. Notable types of armor in European history include lorica hamata, lorica squamata and lorica segmentata of the Roman legions, chain mail from the early Middle Ages, and all-steel harness and cuirasses worn by knights of the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

The real cuirass officially appeared in Europe in 1340, first from wrought iron and later from steel. These early cuirasses were made of several plates that covered only the upper torso, which was not protected by metal until around 1370. The first evidence of a one-piece cuirass comes from the Cathedral of Pistoia, dating back to 1365.

As it evolved later, the cuirass, in addition to protecting the body, also became a status symbol, worn by mythological characters and drag queens to imitate female breasts during performances. The masculinity of the cuirass and the feminine lines combine to create an avant-garde feminine figure that fascinates people, which also inspires the designers endlessly.

In 1969, designer Yves Saint Laurent teamed up with sculptor Claude Lalanne to create a replica of the bust and torso of model Veruschka von Lehndorff for his fall/winter "Empreintes" collection. These pieces later appeared in Yves Saint Laurent's Fall/Winter 2002 haute couture collection.

Issey Miyake, influenced by Grace Jones in his fall/winter 1980 collection, subversively explores the relationship between body and clothing by combining a metal corset tightly wrapped model with a swaying skirt.

Also obsessed with the relationship between body curves and breastplates is Thierry Mugler, the collision of hard breastplates and soft tulle, perfectly presenting the strength of women and the softness of their hearts, with a hint of provocative openness.

Thierry Mugler's Spring/Summer 1992 collection also explains what a real motorcycle cuirass is with a bold and glamorous visual style.

Born rebellious and bold, Alexander McQueen also performed breastplates, and under the influence of his obsession with death and mystery, he put living mollusks in his transparent breastplate, giving us a sense of Alexander McQueen's avant-garde and avant-garde in a shocking form.

Metal cuirasses are also constantly favored by girls. Rihanna, who had just sung passionately in the Super Bowl, made a strong appearance in a fiery red look, with a Loewe metal corset and a tight-fitting undershirt, and the lustrous corset was futuristic, showing Rihanna's unrivaled strong feminine aura.

In the red carpet look at the 25th American Critics' Choice Film Awards, Zendaya Coleman killed all sides with a Tom Ford's fuchsia breastplate, a fuchsia armor-style costume with dirty braids and a simple light-colored fuchsia dress, the shape is simple and unified, showing the hot body.

Kim Kardashian also has a soft spot for breastplates, wearing cuirasses designed by Daniel Roseberry, creative director of fashion house Schiaparelli, at a family party some time ago. The "fake" muscular design on the chest and waist is rich in detail, and the dark green color with metallic fabric brings mystery, showing the perfect body while expressing more possibilities of fashion in a playful way.

The metal corset is the inspiration for the new season, drawing inspiration from the crystal embroidered corset worn by Naomi Campbella for the Fall/Winter 1991 collection, replacing the original crystal embroidered fabric with a futuristic metal woven fabric, a metallic breastplate with soft silk fabric that celebrates the diversity of the female body in strong contrasts, and the harmonious silhouette design details are ingenious, and the harmonious proportions are a beautiful hymn.
