CPPCC members proposed to abolish weekends and pilot "every other Wednesday off", purely using workers as consumables

During this period, the two sessions were about to convene, and many motions were announced, causing an uproar. One of the more popular topics is, "cancel the weekend holiday, and take it off every other Wednesday".

CPPCC members proposed to abolish weekends and pilot "every other Wednesday off", purely using workers as consumables

This proposal was put forward by Xiong Shuilong, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Xiong Shuilong believes that in the past 30 years, the implementation of weekends has promoted economic development and social progress, and ensured the people's right to rest and health. However, the two-day rest day per week is not conducive to the regular tourism consumption of Chinese people, resulting in a group of travel during holidays. Not only has the tourism experience declined, but it has also caused negative consequences such as traffic congestion, overcrowding in scenic spots, and greatly affected people's lives in tourist destinations.

In response to this situation, Xiong Shuilong believes that it is possible to cancel the double holiday and implement a single weekly rest of one day and a double weekly rest of three days. This not only ensures the rigid constraint of public holidays, but also divides multiple evenly distributed "three-day long vacations". Different enterprises are staggered in single and double weeks, which effectively ensures staggered holidays and avoids traffic and tourism congestion.

I have to say that Xiong Shuilong is the most clever representative member I have ever seen. Where is this proposal, it is simply a complete set of routines!

This proposal has been satisfactory to at least three parties:

1. The government is satisfied.

The government has been interested in expanding spending through tourism, but has been unable to find a way. If Committee Member Xiong's proposal is implemented, it means that there can be 20 small holidays every year, and we can imagine how much consumption will be boosted by such a large volume.

2, the enterprise is satisfied.

The mainland's public holidays have always been maintained at the 11-day stage, far lower than all countries in the world, not only lower than developed countries in Europe and the United States, but also lower than almost all middle-income countries. The reason why there has been no increase in public leave for a long time is because the increase in public leave means that the cost of employment for enterprises increases, which will cause enterprises to rebound. Through "regular leave", Committee Member Xiong achieved an increase in tourist holidays without increasing the total number of vacations.

3. Workers with tourism needs are satisfied.

If migrant workers want to travel, there are only a limited number of 11 public holidays at this stage, plus the weekend splicing brought by the patchwork of east and west. These holidays go out to travel, the experience is very poor, it is better not to go out. Especially in the three years of the epidemic, many people are suffocated, and they are anxious to go out to change their mood. Committee member Xiong's proposal can meet the needs of these masses.

Combined with this decision not to take a break on May Day, I deeply feel that Deputy Xiong's proposal is very likely to be passed.

Why not take a break on May Day?

The ostensible reason is that too many people criticize the recess, and criticize that it is too uncomfortable to work seven consecutive days after the recess. So, we simply stopped talking.

However, seven days in a row and a day off are not something we hate, what we hate is that when it comes to holidays, we always search and search. What we criticize is not the transfer of leave, but the lack of vacation!

In recent years, economists and opinion leaders have sided with more and more capitalists, who do not think about how to expand people's rights, but treat people as consumables and exploit them to the maximum.

Human resources, not human mines, can be used sustainably!

At present, China ranks 80th in the world in the number of public holidays in the world with 11 days. China's per capita GDP ranking has reached 64th. If it is believed that the richer the country, the more it has the conditions to increase public holidays, China has such conditions.

Also in the Asian cultural circle, Hong Kong on the mainland has 17 days off and Taiwan has 16 days.

Even Russia, which is not as developed as our own, still has 14 public holidays, three more than China.

It is worth mentioning that although other countries have not much more public holidays than China, many countries have more than 20 to 30 paid holidays per year. In the United States, for example, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 77 percent of private employers offer paid vacation to their employees. The average number of paid vacation days offered by private employers is 10 days after 1 year of service, 14 days after 5 years, 17 days after 10 years and 20 days after 20 years.

China's system design of holidays is not conducive to expanding consumption. Increasing public holidays and paid holidays should be the direction of our efforts, rather than shaking up a "normal holiday".

For example, we high school teachers. Many people say that there are winter and summer holidays throughout the year, and the holidays are very enviable. But in fact, if you do the math, there are not many holidays.

Normally we take one day off for two weeks, and then one more day off a month, with an average of 28 days off and 3 days off. Then July 15 to September 1 is a 45-day rest for summer vacation, and 15 days off for winter vacation from 23rd to 18th lunar month. There are a total of 60 days off during winter and summer vacations, and 33 days off in 11 months, for a total of 93 days. If a public holiday can be enforced, the rest period will exceed 100 days.

And how many days off a year for office workers who enjoy weekends and public holidays, a total of 104 days off on 52 weeks of weekends and 11 days with public holidays, for a total of 115 days.

Therefore, the holidays of high school teachers are not as good as those of ordinary office workers.

I would like to make a suggestion, hoping that high schools can implement weekends off, and the deputies and committee members must bring our suggestions to the central authorities. Thanks!

I am the Governor of History and look forward to your attention and comments!
