The house that won the 2022 Home and Garden Award – Georgian Villa on the shores of Lake Berkshire, England, opens oak doors to a narrow path deep in trees and ferns

Open the oak door to a long, narrow path deep in trees surrounded by ferns. Meandering down, at the lowest point of the valley, a lake can be seen with azaleas blooming all around. An elegant Georgian house overlooking the lake and straight ahead is a long, low modern swimming pool, where only the sound of birdsong and the whisper of birds flying over the lake is silent.

Attracted by the tranquil lakeside location of this Georgian home in Berkshire, he commissioned British designer Turner Pocock to design a renovation that showcased the surrounding natural beauty while providing a welcoming space for his family and visiting friends.

Designer Turner Pocock's first task was to make the Berkshire house a meeting place for the extended family. When the whole family gathers, there are 16 cousins who attract them not only to the seclusion, but also to the unobtrusiveness.

A newly built hobbit cabin deep in the woods, the interior is very elegantly decorated. There is also a houseboat on the lake, where the family can cook and eat together, or laze here reading a book, accompanied by the chirping of birds. On the lakeside, there is also a garden full of surprises.

Designer Turner Pocock, for the renovation of this Georgian villa, received the 2022 Design Industry's Special Contribution Award – the Residence and Garden Award.
