Earlier this year, Shanghai women's footballer Li Jiayue joined Turkey's Galatasaray women's football team and has since started a number of consecutive games for the team.

Also playing in Turkey in early January this year is Wu Shaocong, who played for Guangzhou and joined Istanbul in the Turkish Premier League as a free agent.

In addition, according to Turkey's "New Dawn News", a number of football, volleyball and other sports athletes in the country lost contact in this strong earthquake.

Turkish Premier League side Khattassburg was badly affected, and team manager Volkan Demirel cried on social media: "Help, I hope you can deliver the supplies you have, please, please, people here are dying." One of the club's players, Eneshan Jan, said on his personal social media that 14 other women's volleyball players were buried in a hotel near the Antakia Stadium in Hatay province and had disappeared.
