The SO.8000 "Narwhal" is a carrier-based fighter developed by France after World War II and the last French piston fighter. SO.8000 adopts a pusher layout, the engine is copied from the German JUMO213, and the top speed is close to 700KM. The nose plan of the SO.8000 concentrated on 6 guns, which did not actually enter service with the French Navy.

SO.8000 "Narwhal" built a total of two prototypes, they encountered many problems during the test flight, such as poor stability at low speed, unreliable engines, etc., and the evaluation of the flight test center was mostly negative. With the arrival of jet currents and the preparation of the United States to allocate part of the F6F and F4U to France, further development of narwhal was terminated. The second prototype made its 43rd (last) test flight on January 8, 1950, while the first only flew twice. Proposals to change it to jet SO.8010 were not carried out and both prototypes were abandoned.
