Aston Martin's history dates back to the early 1910s, when founders Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford built their first car in a workshop in London under the name "Bamford & Martin Ltd." Just a year later, the company's name changed to Aston Martin, becoming a true car manufacturer and competing in major races.
But the Aston Martin logo only took wings more than a decade later. The original logo was very different from the one we know today, and over its 100-plus year history it has evolved to match the times and, in some cases, ownership.
1921 – 1926
The first Aston Martin logo appeared in 1921. It is elegant and concise: the letters A and M overlap inside the circle. The classic font, black letters, and bronze background make the logo stylish and noble.
1921-1926
1927 – 1930
In 1927, the Aston Martin logo was changed for the first time. It was the most dramatic change in his history. Wings, symbolizing speed, replace circles. These letters are replaced with the full name of the company. The position of the inscription is such that the letter M located in the center is connected with the horizontal element of the two letters T. The bronze, classic fonts and clean style of the previous logo are retained.
1927-1930
1930 – 1932
In 1930, the company decided to change the bronze color of the logo to silver. In addition, the wings become sharper. But it lasted only two years.
1930-1932
1932 – 1939
The Aston Martin logo, updated in 1932, is similar to today's logo. The wings grow "feathers" and become smoother; The company name is engraved in a rectangle and placed in the center. Silver is replaced by gold and black. The new logo looks more luxurious and more outstanding than the previous one. This makes him live longer than earlier versions, using it for up to 7 years.
1932-1939
1939 – 1950
The logo of the 40s differs from the logo of the 30s only in color: gold is replaced by silver. These minor changes made the logo more serious and became the basis for the emblem we see today.
1939-1950
1950 – 1971
In 1947, the history of Aston Martin changed significantly, and David Brown became its owner. With his arrival, the company began to grow rapidly. Of course, these changes are also reflected in the logo.
In 1950, David Brown's name appeared above the word Aston Martin in a slightly smaller font. The background color is now beige with thin silver lines. Therefore, it seems that there is a feeling of ease and freedom.
1950-1971
1971 – 1972
The logo has been updated again. Silver was once again replaced by gold. This kind of sign looks very extravagant, but it didn't last long. This is because of the change in leadership.
1971-1972
1972 – 1984
In 1972, Aston Martin's new owner was a British investment firm led by William Willson. This caused David Brown's name to disappear from the emblem. The old main color was replaced by a cool gray. The lines are still golden.
1972-1984
1984 – 2003
Although, according to experts, the sign of the 1984 update was not the best, it lasted almost 20 years. This time the updated emblem looks very textured and not that complicated.
1984-2003
2003 – 2021
In 2003, Aston Martin's new headquarters opened. In the same year, a new logo appeared, which became more elegant and modern. Now Aston Martin is in a green rectangle; The lines become more elegant.
This time the logo embodies the main characteristics of Aston Martin cars: prestige, professionalism, speed, freedom and superiority. The simple font, minimalism and cool silver tones show that the Aston Martin brand is reliable and noble.
2003-2021
2021 to present
The newly revamped Aston Martin logo follows a theme that is commonplace today. Just like BMW, Nissan and Volkswagen before it, its logo was flattened and simplified, ditching any embossing or silhouette in favor of a more minimalist look. The green logo box has reappeared, something we haven't seen in a lineup since 1972.
