One of the most popular childhood fiction heroes is Yasin Robin. His elusive skills and amorous posture have popularized many readers who quietly harbor rebellious complexes.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

And yet you know what? In Taiwan in the 1950s, Taiwan also had a thief who could not be locked up in prison, so the legend was no less than Yasin Robin - he was the snitch Gao Jinzhong, who called himself "Liao Tian Ding II" and "Magic Thief", and later named "Taiwan Yasen Robin".

In the book "Exploring the Sea", a collection of strange things that imitates the reader's digest "Yinghuan Souqi", in addition to the monsters I have always paid attention to, there are actually some surprising Taiwan cases.

For example, the "Taiwan Yasen Robin" I want to talk about today, and there may be some readers who have the impression of the "Snitch" Gao Jinzhong.

Gao Jinzhong, known in the book as "Yasin Robin of Taiwan", is said to be able to escape the shackles of the police no matter how many times he is arrested.

Curious, I looked up some data, but I couldn't find it - the strange things of the whole "Yinghuan Search Qi" are not as incredible as his life alone.

Escape at 5:5: Gao Jinzhong's record of his elusive escape

The name Gao Jinzhong's first appeared in the headlines in 1954. It is said that he has escaped from the police six times, but was discovered by Lin Chen Shui, head of the criminal team of the Second Police Precinct when Wanhua was visiting Baodou;

The two of them, who were also in the second stage of judo, chased and fought all the way, both were injured, and finally Lin Chen Shui took Gao Jinzhong.

"Taiwan Yasen Luoping" snitch Gao Jinzhong

In order to avoid escaping seven times, this time the police not only handcuffed him, but also locked the door, and sent two more guards to watch over the night, but he still didn't know how to do it, and still opened the handcuffs and leg irons.

The interrogation published in the newspaper gave a glimpse into his past criminal record. However, if you compare this with the data added in the following years, you will find that his "past" is often unclear and contradictory.

On the one hand, his memory may be different from the truth because of the time gap and the number of crimes, on the other hand, before this arrest, his cases did not accumulate much fame, so he would not leave an accurate record in the newspaper every time.

We can only roughly know that his first confrontation with the police was probably around 1949, when he was first surrounded by the criminal police in the residence of the mansion, escaped and went to Tainan City to steal a suit store, arrested and transferred to the Tainan Courtyard, and fled the next day.

But is this his first jailbreak? In fact, it is also difficult to confirm.

The report wrote that in those confessions, he said that he was arrested in Taipei in 1946 for stealing a motorcycle and later escaped from prison;

There are also reports that his first escape occurred after he was arrested for an attempted carjacking in Caoshan Mountain, but in other interviews, he said that both times he was released, not counted.

In 1950 he stole a jeep from the British merchant Tak Kee and drove it to the south to be arrested, which, according to him, was not a prison escape, because he was released six months later, or three months.

After that, Gao Jinzhong was repeatedly arrested and escaped throughout Taiwan, but there was very little non-confession data during this period.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

At that time, the newspapers described the title of Gao Jinzhong's "great achievements"

One of the more reliable data is a report in early November 1951, when he was still written as "Gao Jinzhong";

At the time, he claimed to be a member of the Security Command, extorted people in Yancheng, Kaohsiung, under the guise of investigating smuggling, and lured two women to live with him when he was arrested.

Another Supreme Court case on "escape" mentions that Gao Jinzhong, who was sentenced to eight months in prison for theft in 1952, escaped from Taipei Prison on May 28, 1953.

Later, together with his accomplices, he "stole all other people's clothes, cash, bicycles, radios, etc. from Ruifang, Jiufen, Xindian, Jingmei, Zhonghe, Fangliao, Zhongli, etc. to make ends meet" until he was arrested on January 18, 1954.

It was close to the lunar year when he was arrested, and he is said to have first told the guards of the Taipei County Police Station detention center, "I want to go out for the Chinese New Year."

Not long after, around the Spring Festival, he broke the wooden fence of the detention center and flew away, leaving behind words such as "Liao Tian Ding II, flying eaves and walking on the wall, Gao Jinzhong 5:5" (different newspapers published slightly different books).

Perhaps it was this arrogant behavior that finally began to become the focus of news after he was arrested in Baodou.

Gao Jinzhong's prison escape and theft of guns, mysterious people and newspaper advertisements

After Gao Jinzhong's arrest in Baodouli this time, he confessed to stealing more than 2,000 sets of clothes from the Pingxi Township Cooperative in Taipei County;

Two months later, he was sentenced to four years in prison and three years of compulsory work by the Criminal Division of the Taipei District Court, and in August 1955 he was transferred to the First Vocational Training Corps of the Taiwan Provincial Security Command in Banqiao to carry out the remaining sentences and security sanctions.

But on November 13, he escaped again, this time breaking into the office of the captain of the vocational training corps and stealing an American-made revolver and 30 rounds of ammunition (26 rounds).

What was originally just a habitual thief who was locked up and fled has now been upgraded to a repeat offender who escapes with a police gun.

However, he seemed to be full of confidence in this, and first wrote a letter ten days later to threaten the Second Police Station of Taipei City, saying that he would not leave Taipei City this time, and if he did, he would not be a hero.

However, he was apparently no longer in Taipei, and a few days later he sent a threatening letter from Tainan to the Taipei City Police Department, saying that he would come to retaliate, and then sent a letter to the captain of the criminal police team, predicting that he would lead a few brothers to Taipei to do a few cases.

But Gao Jinzhong's escape this time is obviously not as arrogant as written in the letter. Several events that seemed to relate to him came next; It is said that he appeared in a certain house in Wanhua who collected stolen goods on his behalf, originally he wanted to get some money, but happened to be absent, and he did not dare to stay longer, so he fled before the security officers chased him;

He later went to a mine in Taipei County to borrow money pretending to be a security officer, and reportedly pulled out a gun to intimidate, but he was unsuccessful; Later, it seems that he went to the area of Banqiao Bridge to borrow money, but again gave him an escape.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

On December 7, 1955, the first page of Lianhe Pao also cancelled a mysterious advertisement from a person who signed "Confidant" to Gao Jinzhong:

"At 4 p.m. on the 4th, the matter discussed on the Yilan City to the Eight Blocks Express Train has been negotiated with the relevant parties, and I hope to talk with peace of mind", which seems to mean that Gao Jinzhong has intended to surrender to the police through an intermediary; But half a month later, the only new news is that Gao Jinzhong fled back to his hometown and lurked in the mountains around Qingtan in Xindian Town.

On December 23, Wang Luqiao, chief of the Beixian County Police Station, the captain of the criminal police and the head of the Xindian branch, led the criminal police to surround the entire mountain, and arrested two people after one day and night;

One is Xie Bizhang, who knows Gao Jinzhong, and the other is a murderer who fled here with Gao.

Later, according to the confession, Gao Jinzhong and four wanted criminals who had known him in the past ran to Xie Bizhang, and Xie had to build three grass houses on the mountain for them to live in, during which Gao Jinzhong was said to have twice descended the mountain to Taoyuan to rob.

However, after the police rounded up, he turned to appear on Muzha Mountain the next day; A week later, he was seen again at the junction of Taipei County and Taoyuan;

A week later, he was seen calmly brushing his hair in front of Keelung Railway Station, and then escaped to the mountains around Ruifang; However, after several months, there was no news of anyone in the newspapers.

Such suspense also seems to have some social effects; On May 12, 1956, when the provincial police department began to take over the screening of films from the educational authorities.

A film company that was supposed to start filming "Snitch Liao Tian Ding" was also investigated by the security unit and advised to stop filming on the grounds that "making this film here and now affects social security".

Taiwan's Yasen Robin's prison escape skills are public: It's not that I'm powerful, it's that the police are too inferior

Meanwhile, the hunt for Gao Jinzhong, still going on in secret. Since Zhang Yongliang, chief of the second precinct of the Keelung City Police, received a secret report from netizens and learned about Gao Jinzhong's hiding place, he began to try to send someone to contact him in an attempt to instigate Gao Jinzhong's surrender.

Zhang Yongliang also pretended to be a coal miner to visit Guanxi Town, Hsinchu County, and finally found Gao Jinzhong, a grass liao in the mountains.

After letting Gao let his guard down, Zhang Yongliang learned that the months he had been hiding had been quite difficult, so he tried to break through his mental defenses and volunteered to act as an intermediary to help him turn himself in.

After some maneuvering, Gao Jinzhong gradually agreed to go down the mountain and turn himself in on the condition that he "report unknown elements found in the mountainous area during the escape, and make meritorious contributions in exchange for a commutation of sentence."

On June 12, on the agreed day of surrender, Gao Jinzhong appeared as scheduled, and Zhang Yongliang also indicated his police identity; After voluntarily handing over the pistol bullets, the specially prepared car drove Gao Jinzhong to Keelung to turn himself in.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

After his arrest in 1956, Ko told reporters about his "great deeds" of escaping from prison and committing crimes.

In his confession, Gao Jinzhong revealed the reason for this escape.

Ever since he took over the errand of the herald in the vocational training corps, he had been harassed by the commander with big and small details, asking him to send clothes to the laundry without giving him money, making him not a person on either side;

On one occasion, his clothes were burned in this way, and the commander, thinking that he was a ghost, took the opportunity to lock him up and insult him, so that he could not bear it anymore and was determined to take revenge.

He also said that he was often sent alone to Banqiao Station to buy things and do things, and he didn't need to prepare at all if he wanted to escape;

He took advantage of the fact that one afternoon when the commander was not paying attention, went to his room to get his pistol, put on official clothes, and ran out without taking anything else.

I wandered outside like this for half a year, during which I only wrote a letter to the captain of the vocational training corps to explain the reason for the escape; As for how he lived during this time?

He confessed that in the past six months, he has traveled all over Taiwan, sleeping in a stone cave in the mountains or by a bridge on flat ground at night, walking around at night wherever he wants, or secretly climbing a slow train carrying goods.

In the end, he will want to come out and surrender, because he fled only for revenge, and once it is achieved, there is no need to continue; Moreover, life after this escape has no one to help, which is really far worse than in the past.

On July 7, 1956, the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office filed three public charges against Gao Jinzhong: theft, escape, and public danger, and on July 28, it convened an investigation chamber, and pronounced a sentence of two years and six months in prison in the afternoon.

A month later, Gao Jinzhong was released back to the Banqiao Vocational Training Corps.

This time, Gao Jinzhong, at least, seemed much more obedient, and the headquarters reportedly "replaced scolding with persuasion, and punishment with reform", and even asked Gao to speak to thousands of classmates on stage.

He repented of his past escapes and lies, thanked the corps for his retribution, and encouraged everyone to "preferably be sent out of the gate and never escape through the barbed wire." ”

I was originally very well-behaved, and I made bad friends: Gao Jinzhong and his thief career

During this peaceful period, Gao Jinzhong also revealed his past in a news interview. After comparing it with other reports, his past before the name of the snitch became slightly eyebrows.

According to reports, he was born in 1922, his hometown is in Xindian, and his ID card is registered in Banqiao; In addition to his mother, there are two older brothers and a brother and a sister. The report never mentioned Gao Jinzhong's father, only that he had an adoptive father surnamed Huang, who seemed to live in the place where he registered his household registration.

He was educated; After graduating from Shinden Kokumin School, he went on to work at Fukuoka Industrial School in Japan, where he fell in love and married a Japanese woman named Shizuko.

But towards the end of his studies, the war gradually reached its peak; They were first sent back to Taiwan, and soon after he was conscripted to serve as an officer in a prisoner-of-war camp in Manila, Philippines, where he was said to have had a lot of money;

After the surrender of Japan, the two were repatriated to Japan, where they started a business of buying and selling American military materials, and also gave birth to a daughter at that time; In 1946, the family returned to Taiwan, bought a house in the mansion, and started a mining business.

This was the most proudest period of his life, and many friends in the Philippines also returned to meet at this time, but there were also people who were not quite right;

Later, the business of the mine deteriorated, and he had to lend the house to one of his friends to save money on his own, only to find that his friend used him as a thief's base; Perhaps forced to make a living, under the persuasion of friends, he joined them with the mentality of giving it a try, learned theft skills, and began a career of repeated prison escapes.

As for his wife, Shizuko, according to Ko Jinzhong, he was "resentful and depressed" because of his fall (although there are also reports that she returned to Japan in anger), but he said nothing about his daughter—and it took many years for people to find out their whereabouts from other news.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

After a shattered life, countless crimes and escapes, Gao Jinzhong at this moment not only repeatedly expressed his regrets in the interview, but also hoped to change his past mistakes and "atone for the country's sins with the rest of his life", and asked the captain of the Banqiao Vocational Training Corps to go to the front line to serve the country;

I don't know what motive it was, but the higher-level authorities really approved him to go to work in Kinmen, so the news that the newborn snitch Gao Jinzhong "atoned for his sins and served the country" and "thanked the old chief with a letter of gratitude and education" appeared in the news of major newspapers on October 10, 1956, National Day.

Flying Over the Discipline Institute: An Incredible Escape

However, just as such propaganda reports always have untold truths, Gao Jinzhong's confession may also be insincere, and it did not take long to prove it. On June 24, 1958, Gao Jinzhong, who was undergoing discipline training in Taitung, pretended to be drunk and escaped again while the guards were lax.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

In 1956, Gao Jinzhong, who was "reborn", escaped from prison again.

It is said that Gao Jinzhong, who had just received management training, was originally very disciplined, but after half a year after transferring from Kinmen to Yanwan, Taitung, he slowly began to make unreasonable troubles and contradict the chief.

Although the vocational training team sensed that something was wrong and began to spy secretly, Gao Jinzhong still took advantage of a sudden rainstorm and climbed over the five-meter-high wall of the vocational training team to escape.

When the roll call was taken at 9:00 that night, the training institute realized that something was wrong and began to search the surrounding area, but Gao Jinzhong had long since disappeared.

Since it was reported that Gao Jinzhong might go to Taipei to seek revenge, the police in Taipei County and City were also ordered to strengthen their precautions.

Various rumors of Gao Jinzhong's haunting have surfaced in the news again: the last time Gao Jinzhong was arrested, he begged the police to let him watch two movies and was rejected, and this time someone saw Gao Jinzhong sitting there with gold-rimmed glasses sitting there watching a movie in the theater of Jinshan Township.

When the police blocked traffic arteries in the Jinshan area, he appeared in his hometown in Qingtan, Xindian late at night on July 18, stayed for 15 minutes, took the money and left, and narrowly escaped the encirclement.

At the same time, the garrison headquarters also officially joined the fray - they offered a reward of NT$20,000 just to capture him.

In the end, can the famous "police chief" who is full of eyeliner in Taiwan win back a city for the government that has lost face?

The police are in a chase, with a series of disappearances

Although the police chief joined the operation in July, their pursuit did not turn around until the end of August.

This opportunity was when a nationwide "security check" was held, and the police found that Gao Jinzhong's younger brother Gao Chao was missing;

A few days later, Gao Chao's wife Ah E, who sent her children to her mother's house, was also missing; Then, Gao Chao's friend Chen Xun also disappeared.

This series of disappearances led the police to suspect that Gao Jinzhong may have taken refuge in a safer area outside Taipei under the cover of Gao Chao or Chen Xun - later relevant investigators said that the so-called "security check" was actually a designed trap to force people related to Gao Jinzhong to contact him.

Under such strategic actions, the task force finally convinced Gao Chao's wife, Ah E, that she agreed to lead the case investigators to her husband.

On September 22, when the newspaper reported that "someone had gambled Gao's wife to take a train to the south to find her husband the night before," Ah E had actually arrived at Gao Chao's place in Yunlin, which was Chen Xun's home, accompanied by two criminal policemen.

Sharpshooters hit Scud: a victory for the police

Although two criminal policemen came to the door, Gao Chao never revealed Gao Jinzhong's hiding place to them, and only took them around the neighborhood. But the team personally led by Cao Ji, the commander of the criminal police brigade, then arrived.

Seeing that he could not contact the two advance officers, he ordered "decisive measures", first finding Chen Xun, who was hiding in Gao Dynasty, and learning from him that Gao Jinzhong had been introduced through him.

Hidden by others in a private house in Lunneli, Tuku Town, Yunlin County, he then surrounded the house in the early morning of September 23 together with the criminal team of the Huwei Branch Bureau.

According to reports, the Criminal Police Brigade specially dispatched two substitutes to accompany him in order to accurately shoot and wound Gao Jinzhong's leg as he was preparing to escape or resist arrest, lest he escape or die in the indiscriminate shooting.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

Gao Jinzhong, who was accurately hit to the knee

Coincidentally, when Gao Jinzhong was finally arrested, he was shot at the kneecap of both legs, which was a little unbelievable.

Tired and sick, no one can be trusted: a life on the run without romance

Gao Jinzhong, whose wounds had not healed, was soon interrogated and even interviewed by several newspapers.

According to him, the main reasons for this escape were that the discipline work was too hard and he was unwilling to be released, and the other was that he had a lung disease and wanted to be treated.

He said that during this period of escape, he suffered so hard that he didn't even have money to eat, so he could only run to the sweet potato field at night to steal raw sweet potatoes to eat, and when he slept, he thought that someone was coming to catch him, not to mention poisonous snakes and mosquitoes in the mountains;

During this period, he only once returned to the new store to meet his mother to get money, and later saw that the security authorities in Taipei offered a reward of 20,000 yuan to chase him, so he was so frightened that he removed all the obvious gold teeth on his mouth, and fled to the south after disguising himself and hiding;

Although he also thought about turning himself in this time, because he did not receive specific instructions, and he could not trust his relatives and friends after being rewarded, he never planned to come forward, and even his own brother did not dare to tell his whereabouts.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

Gao Jinzhong was interviewed by the media to talk about the reasons why he fled and the process of escaping

On October 6, 1958, Gao Jinzhong, along with his suspects who hid him in Huwei, Taoyuan, and Xindian during this period, were transferred to the court.

On the afternoon of November 11, the verdict was pronounced, and Gao Jinzhong escaped to one year in prison (later reduced to eight months), and after completion of execution or pardon, he was ordered to work in the workplace for three years, and 12 other people were convicted of hiding Gao Jinzhong.

The prisoner's rehabilitated utopia is a nightmare for the enlightened island

This time, Gao Jinzhong's was sent to Orchid Island, which is more remote than Taitung. Since the Ministry of National Defense established the Third Brigade (later renamed the Fourth Brigade) of the Second Vocational Training Corps in Lanyu in 1955, a lot of arable land on the island has been turned into so-called "farms", which are used to discipline "team members" such as Gao Jinzhong, who have committed serious crimes, or "field members" with the status of honored citizens, which are actually forced labor camps isolated on the outer islands.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

Lanyu added the third brigade of the second vocational training corps

In mid-January 1962, the Chinese and foreign press group that visited Lanyu left a portrait of happy laborers in the paradise for the farm and Gao Jinzhong, who worked hard and hard, and continued to build cement barracks and Ronmin New Village on the island;

They also built airports, opened up roads on the island, and actively developed various animal husbandry businesses, eventually hoping to let everyone start a family and make a living here.

The legendary snitch Gao Jinzhong, like other professional training team members in blue uniforms, is now working hard to develop Orchid Island. At the time of the interview, he had been on the island for almost two years, and the fear of fleeing was gradually replaced by a stable and steady life;

Now he is performing well, has been designated as the class leader by the farm, has classes in the morning and serves in the afternoon, not only eats and wears well, but also knows the truth of being a person and doing things, and deeply understands his past wrongness.

He believes that this is the place where he will start a new family, and he hopes to bring his sister and mother to live here in the future.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

Is Gao Jinzhong's rehabilitation his own will, or is it another invented myth?

But for the island's indigenous people, it was all a disaster – the farms not only robbed them of their land, but also allowed a large group of dangerous felons to roam the island.

From time to time, these "team members" escaped from control, committed theft in villages on the island, destroyed natural resources, seriously injured residents in order to rob things, and even harassed and sexually assaulted women.

If this is the case with the truth under the park, it may also be doubtful how much truth there is in Gao Jinzhong's future dream.

From later reports, it can be learned that Gao Jinzhong secretly discussed absconding with four prisoners in the team as early as 1961, but he eventually betrayed his accomplices and became a squad leader by whistleblowing.

In the winter of 1962, he again planned to abscond, and this leak finally aroused the anger of all prisoners and administrators; It is said that he was attacked by all the prisoners and could not get out of bed for thirty or forty days.

Gao Jinzhong obviously doesn't want to stay on the island, but Lanyu is not a place he can go if he wants. However, what should have happened, it still happened.

On a typhoon day, a bloody incident occurred on the isolated island

On September 11, 1963, Typhoon Grammar hit Taiwan and Lanyu, causing damage to the police telephones of the Lanyu Langdao tribe and unable to communicate with other tribes.

On October 6, a fishing boat called "Junda" applied to go to sea from Kaohsiung Port, but due to the too strong wind and waves at sea, it had to sail to Lanyu to take shelter from the wind, and could not operate until October 23, so when the food was about to run out, it had to set sail from Lanyu to Kaohsiung on the same day.

On that same day, when a worker of the Lang Island checkpoint returned to the outpost from Hongtou Island, he suddenly found two people lying in a pool of blood in the checkpoint;

However, due to the previous typhoon damage to communications, and the fact that the ring road did not connect to Langdao, this matter was not only discovered late, but the team also discovered that it was Gao Jinzhong and others who were missing when they were called by roll call in the evening.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

Due to the inconvenience of transportation in Lanyu, the news that Gao Jinzhong's murder there became known to the outside world after a while.

Since the news on the island had to be transferred to all units in Taiwan through Taitung, the situation was not very clear at the first time.

The first news to come out was that Gao Jinzhong and others killed the people at the checkpoint, and then escaped from Lanyu by boat; Not only the Taitung police on the other side immediately began to guard against it, but also the police stations in Hualien, Yilan, Keelung and other counties and cities were also on guard.

Even the operators who had arrested Gao Jinzhong, in Taipei, Xindian, Yunlin, Kaohsiung, and other places also went to places where he might haunt to investigate.

On the other hand, the fishing boat "Junda", which returned from Lanyu on the 23rd, was also suspected of carrying fugitives, and as soon as it arrived at Kaohsiung Port on the 24th, it was controlled by the inspection department, and the captain and nine other people were interrogated overnight, but no evidence of involvement in the case was found.

Since information on the island remained unclear, and it was not even clear whether anyone had been killed, the Security Headquarters dispatched the head of the Security Service to investigate on 25 October.

After arriving in Lanyu, the head of the Security Department coordinated with the security personnel of the garrison and the management and training team, the Lanyu police sub-station and other units to conduct a comprehensive search on the island, and the navy also sent gunboats to assist in patrolling at sea.

As the search progressed (or maybe I wanted to catch it myself, but then the paper couldn't contain the fire)

There is also a relatively clear and consistent account of the case - on the morning of October 23, Gao Jinzhong and six other suspects (also say five, only four left at the time of the final indictment) went to the outpost to cut and kill Lieutenant Gu Xinjiang and sentry Liu Ronghua while they were chopping firewood (or cutting vines for processing) near the Hongtou Yu farm, and escaped.

Since there were no sampans or ships lost in the whole Lanyu after the inventory, and there was a black tide passing through the sea from Lanyu to Taiwan at this time, the search party judged that Gao Jinzhong and others should still be on the island.

The murderer who did not escape from Lanyu, and the two hundred policemen could not find him

In the following days, the Taitung garrison unit successively sent armed personnel to Lanyu by boat for reinforcement, and Gao Jinzhong's escape began to be found on Lanyu Island.

In the early morning of October 28, the aborigines of the coconut oil village discovered that three people with suspicious whereabouts were stealing sweet potatoes from the field; In Dongqing village, traces of sleeping and cooking were reported in caves in nearby mountains. On the 29th, the villagers of Dongqing found suspicious people again, and the other party even slashed them with knives.

The villagers who escaped quickly reported to the police, and then the military police found the thatched beds and wild stoves left nearby; Therefore, the encirclement network of the military and police gradually converged on the mountains and forests in the Dongqing area.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

Gao Jinzhong, taken during the Lanyu management training

However, several days passed, and no trace of Gao Jinzhong and others was found. The weather on the island began to deteriorate, and the waves at sea gradually strengthened.

The searchers, who made no progress, could only continue to ask for reinforcements and asked for the assistance of police who could speak the local language, and even the Taitung police chief personally led a large number of operators to Lanyu.

By November 11, there were as many as 200 security officers on the island, and the search side began to cut off Gao Admiralty's food by holding on to the fields, and the ships that might be used to escape were strictly controlled to go to sea.

It is said that the military and police once requested that the large and small plank boats on Quanlang Island be displayed in front of the village office so as not to be stolen and used by Gao Jinzhong and his party.

Despite occasional news reports of optimistic statements, the search for the island has stalled.

A modest news story on November 23 mentioned that most of the search police had been withdrawn from the island.

According to the island's residents, after the police were withdrawn, the small-scale search operation in groups of five continued on the island, and the villagers of Lang Island Village will not be able to go to sea for a long time in the future, and they will not dare to go up the mountain casually, which seriously affects the livelihood of the village.

The incredible evaporation of human beings during the period of martial law

Some people also found Gao Jinzhong's hometown, hoping to find some clues. However, in the past, Gao Jinzhong, who would say something to reporters every time he escaped, reacted as if he did not have this son, and the reaction of other brothers was also "I don't know" and "I have not interacted for a long time".

As for Gao Jinzhong's only daughter, the only known news is that she went south to make a living a few years ago, but was abducted by hooligans all the way to the tea houses of Kaohsiung and Taitung to engage in prostitution, and although she was taken back to Banqiao (probably Gao Jinzhong's adoptive father's family) after requesting police protection, she was forced to leave again soon after due to livelihood, and finally only knew people in the Hsinchu area.

Gao Jinzhong, who broke off contact with everyone, finally escaped the grasp of the security unit completely this time. Some of those who participated in the roundup thought that he might have made a raft to escape, but died in the wind and waves at sea.

Others believe that he did not flee to the island, as the police thought, but headed south to the Philippines, where he had stayed.

Some people also speculate that he escaped the search of gunboats at sea and drifted all the way to Chinese mainland - it is said that this was the most widely circulated rumor in the Lanyu vocational training brigade at that time.

Taiwan's version of prison escape, the snitch Gao Jinzhong successfully escaped from prison many times and stole a gun, and finally disappeared from the world

Orchid Island, which cannot be regarded as a big island, still hides many mysteries. One of them is the missing Gao Jinzhong, where did he go...?

Perhaps only the sea knows the truth.

In May 1979, the No. 2 Vocational Training Corps was abolished in Lanyu No. 4 and more than 400 members were moved back to Yanwan, Taitung. On November 18, 1988, the Taitung District Court sentenced Gao Jinzhong and others to waive the lawsuit in accordance with the provision that "the limitation period for the right of action has been completed".

At this point, the snitch Gao Jinzhong, has completed his last escape. It's just that where he is now, and how all this has evolved to this point, I am afraid that it is impossible to know.
