The Leninsky District Court of Vladivostok sentenced Oleg Gumenyuk, the former mayor of Vladivostok, to 16.5 years in prison for taking bribes of 38 million rubles. He also had to pay a fine of 150 million rubles.

The state prosecution demanded that Oleg Gumenyuk serve 17 years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 150 million rubles. The former mayor was accused of taking bribes totaling 38 million rubles. The investigation concluded that in addition to patronizing the ceremonial business, Mr. Gumenyuk helped an acquaintance who worked in the construction industry secure a lucrative contract.

Oleg Gumenyuk pleaded not guilty. According to the former mayor, he did not take bribes, and the accusation was based on the testimony of businessman Sergei Sirotin. According to Mr. Gumeniuk, he slandered him in order to receive minimal punishment.

Last November, the same Leninsky District Court found local businessman Sirodin guilty of mediation bribery (part 291.1, part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced him to four years in prison in a strict regime colony with a fine of 62.5 euros. million rubles. This is double the bribe that Sirotin transferred to the former mayor of Vladivostok, Oleg Gumenyuk, between December 22, 2018 and February 24, 2021, "for the general sponsorship and connivance of the activities of the Necropolis MBU".

According to the investigation, Oleg Gumenyuk received another 6.9 million rubles between 2016 and 2018, when he was the head of the Ministry of Economy of the Primorye government.

Mr. Gumenyuk has been detained since October 2021. On May 18 of the same year, the governor resigned from the post of governor of Vladivostok Oleg Kozhemyako of Primorye because Yuri Trutnev, special envoy of the president of the Far Eastern Federal District, complained to him about the poor quality of the renovation of the children's industrial park, Oleg Kozhemyako of Primorye said that the mayor's job was not satisfactory to the residents.

Oleg Gumenyuk has been the acting mayor of Vladivostok since December 2018, after which he was elected mayor by the local Duma in March 2019.
