A-Ma Temple is located in the southwest of the Macau Peninsula, backed by green hills and facing the blue sea. It was founded in 1488 and has a history of more than five hundred years. The ancient trees in the temple are towering and the environment is beautiful; The building is carved and painted with beams and paintings, antique; Incense holds blessings and flourishes endlessly.

According to legend, in 1553, the Portuguese docked their boats at the ancient pier in front of the A-Ma temple. They asked the locals what place it was, and the local Fujianese mistakenly thought they were asking for the name of A-Ma Temple, so they said it was A-Ma Pavilion. Since then, the Portuguese have called Macau "Majiao" in the Hokkien dialect "Ma Jiao", called "Ma Jiao Port".
