The elite mountain unit of the German army in World War II - the Navy mountain troops!
During World War II, Germany's mountain troops, although small, were all elite, and they chose the edelweiss as the symbol of the army to show the courage to conquer the Alps. Mountain infantry uses infantry uniforms (all styles), but the epaulettes used are light green piping. What is less known is that there are several types of mountain troops, in addition to conventional mountain troops, there are also naval mountain troops, African Army mountain troops. Figure 1 shows a captain of the Navy Mountain Force, wearing a Type 1940 military beanie, wearing a metal "edelweiss" class symbol on the left side of the hat, and a naval mountain infantryman can clearly see the anchor-shaped armband on his left arm, and the edelweiss armband on his right arm represents the troops.
