#Berlin The World's Largest Freestanding Cylinder Aquarium Burst#This small hotel called "AquaDom" is 25 meters tall, 8 stories high, 1 million liters of water mixed with debris poured into the busy streets, more than a thousand fish are spared, it is frightening to think about.

At about 6 a.m. local time on December 16, Berlin, the capital of Germany, the world's largest independent cylinder aquarium "AquaDom" burst. Located within the Radisson Blu Hotel complex, this aquarium houses facilities such as a hotel, museum, shops, and restaurants.

The explosion caused damage to a hotel, a café and a chocolate shop around the aquarium, two of whom were injured by glass shards, and more than 350 hotel guests and employees were asked to evacuate around the aquarium, when the outside temperature in Berlin was about minus 7 degrees Celsius, which was very cold.

After the incident, about 100 local emergency rescue personnel rushed to the scene. One of the main roads leading from Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburg Gate is currently blocked.

According to the data, this aquarium was built in 2003, 25 meters high, equivalent to 8 floors high, the bottom diameter is about 11 meters, and it has been 19 years now. At that time, the construction of this aquarium cost 12.8 million euros, equivalent to about 110 million yuan. There were about 80 species and 1,500 tropical fish kept in it before the accident, which was worth a lot. Among them, the blue upside-down fish and the clownfish, widely known for Finding Nemo. The aquarium was last maintained in 2020.

Faced with the burst, Berlin Mayor Franziska Giffei said: "Unfortunately, none of these 1,500 fish have been spared. But if the aquarium explodes an hour later, it will face even more horrific casualties. ”

Animal protection group PETA also posted on social media: "This tragedy shows that aquariums are not a safe place for fish and other marine life. ”

At present, the cause of the aquarium explosion accident has not yet been identified. Some speculate that the local temperature in Berlin dropped to minus 10 degrees Celsius overnight, causing cracks in the acrylic glass walls to explode under water pressure. Local police said there was no evidence that the incident was caused by malicious acts.

It's scary to think about it, it seems that danger exists everywhere. If it was a weekend or at work, there would have been a lot of people on the scene, so it wouldn't just be 1,500 fish dead, the consequences would be really unimaginable.
