If there is a certain characteristic of movies that includes the function of dreaming and creating splendid worlds, then James Cameron is the best of this type of film creator. From the Terminator series, to Titanic, to Avatar, as a film industry giant and technological revolutionary, Cameron has never let you down.
Likes and dislikes of a film vary from person to person, and if you ask me if it's worth going to the theater, my answer is yes, because your dreams don't give birth to such a strong visual impact of the sensory world... 01 Prehistory: Hook with the first part
In the first part of "Avatar", the protagonist Sally Jack was originally an "alien invader" who came to the Naville race from the human world. Sally and scientists, including Grace, are able to enter the sleeping chamber and manipulate new species that incorporate human and Na'vi DNA, which can be thought of as their alter selves on the planet Pandora.
And Ben was a "secret agent" who broke into the opposing camp, and with months of getting along and fusing, Sally gradually moved from the identity of a soldier to Grace's righteous side, and his inner conscience made him discover that the real barbarians were humans, not the Na'vi people. He successfully rebelled against his army and transformed from an invader to a leader and hero of the guardians in the war against the Nawi people.
During the battle between the two sides, Grace was shot and killed. Before he died, he had hoped that through the unique psychic methods of the Na'vi people, Grace's soul would be separated from the human shell and become a true Na'vi people. But because she was too weak in body, she eventually failed.
And Sally Jack, who saved his tribesmen, successfully got rid of the paralyzed human shell and became a Na'vi people. Originally, the way of using human consciousness to control the body of the Na'vi was the meaning of "Avatar". That Na'vi body is their own avatar to the manipulator. And because Sally carries unique human genes after all, there is still a difference between him and the real Na'vi, so Sally himself can be called Avatar.
In the first part, Colonel Kaurich, who has been killed by an arrow by Sully's wife Netili, also has the shell of the Na'vi people through the Avatar technique and several of his soldiers in the second part, which means that Kauric was reborn through the Avatar way and invaded the Na'vi territory again for revenge. This is the same way that Sally broke into the Na'vi in the first place.
02 Similar settings and scenarios
At this time, Sally and Netili already had four children, two boys and two women, one of which was a girl Chillie conceived through Grace's avatar body, and Sigourney Weaver (the heroine of the classic film "Alien") who previously played Grace also appeared in the second part in this way.
Among the four children, there is also a boy from the human "Spider", whose setting is the son of Kauric before his death, which increases the contradictions and highlights of the story. Because after the spider is caught, he is forced to become the translator accompanying Kauriqi. But he is still on the side of the Na'vi in his heart. His feelings are somewhat similar to Sully in the previous film, and he will be in a dilemma. But in the end, it will still fall into the arms of the Na'vi.
In addition to similar settings, you will also see some similar plots. In the first part, Sally, who gradually learns the Na'vi way of life, seems rusty when he tries to tame his Ikaran mount for the first time, and it is Netili who encourages him; In the second part, it is the spider with disgust who laughs at Kauriqi's clumsiness, but the latter still conquers the mount very contentiously, and also makes the spider have mixed emotions for him.
And the father-son relationship of the villain will also affect the key plot later. Because in the fight between the two sides, Lo'ak, the youngest son of the most rebellious and righteous son in the Sully family, was shot and killed. This aroused Netili's anger, and during the final confrontation, Coric hijacked Chillie with a knife, and Netili was furious, held the spider hostage, and even slashed the spider in the chest as a threat.
This trick worked, and Kauric let Chillie go. And when the Sully family is in deep crisis at the end, the spider sees the seriously injured "father" Kauric and drags him out of the water. After all, his father also saved his life before. Seeing that Kauric landed safely, the spider still returned to the Sully family without hesitation, and Sully also said, Exchange your (Cowridge) son for my son. And the villain is not dead, we know that there will be a good show in the third part.
And the way of ending is similar. In the first part, Sali eventually becomes the leader of the Na'vi people in the special capacity of Avatar. In the second part, Sally sees the calamity he brought and is ready to leave the sea world, but through this battle, the boss of the island and reef tribe accepts him into their group.
03 Cameron's Ocean Complex
In the creation of dramatic conflicts, new difficulties are needed, otherwise this one is still chased in the jungle, and there will not be too new to watch. So Cameron, who has a special affection for the ocean, brings a new setting for the second part, which is the theme of the main part, "The Way of Water", allowing the Sally family to seek refuge in a new tribe.
Cameron's love of the ocean began with 1989's The Abyss. This time, even Ronal (High Priest), the wife of the leader of the island tribe, is played by "Titanic" heroine Kate Winslet. It is the Sully family who experienced the "shipwreck", no wonder some viewers will say that the final fierce battle part seems to have seen "Titanic" after watching it.
In the first part, Sally learns the laws of jungle survival in order to truly become a Na'vi. And this time, a similar study life began again. Ikaran will also be replaced by the corresponding mount that appears in the water. Therefore, this is a key setting, because it allows the audience to see another gorgeous and colorful marine world.
In addition, unique marine life will help the Saly and reef people to resist human attacks. Last time, forest creatures similar to the rhinoceros variant became the main force to turn things around, as well as creatures such as the flying Ikaran.
And this time it is a behemoth similar to the whale that exists in reality, named Tulkun. Kauric joins forces a team of professionals who hunted Tuquin to help him defeat the islanders, but is counterattacked.
The jungle animals in the first part, after receiving instructions from Eva, will help the Na'vi people against foreign invaders. And this time Tukun is also a sea creature that is psychic with the island and reef people. One of them, Tukun who was injured and left alone by the group's misunderstanding, became Lo'ak's friend.
It was also this Tukun that became the hero of the destruction of the ocean fleet, and also gave the originally passive Sally and the island and reef tribe a chance to counterattack, and finally assisted Sali and his eldest son to surface.
04 Guard the clan and protect the family
The theme of the first part is basically to resist the invasion of the beautiful homeland of the Na'vi people. Kauric led troops to attack the Hometree on the planet Pandora, the last line of the Na'vi. The raid nearly destroyed an important habitat for the Na'vi, who came to pray at the sacred tree where they could channel with Ava.
And the next stop for Kaurich and the troops is undoubtedly the last bastion of the Na'vi. In order to prove his loyalty to his clan and his determination to face his enemies, Sally takes the challenge of becoming a Toruk Makto to capture the hearts of his people. In fact, from the beginning of his arrival in the territory of the Na'vi tribe, the Divine Tree Seed surrounded him through Ava's guidance and chose him.
In the second part, Sully chose to protect his clansmen by leaving the forest home they were already familiar with and living elsewhere on the planet Pandora, which led to the island and reef tribe. But the Kauric who will not die will definitely chase here, and the disaster will not stop. This time Sally was in a similar situation to the first part, when his family was arrested and the marine race was threatened, in exchange, he had to rush to the front and personally take on the responsibility.
The core of this story, in addition to the ethnic group, is to protect one's own family from infringement. When the youngest son died in the battle and his parents and children were reborn, the whole family held hands and gathered around.
