Chapter 51: Nutritional Therapy for Respiratory Diseases

(colds, flu and sinusitis)

Good Books to Read – The Nutrition Bible Part VII

Read Chapter 51 P422-425 on December 1, 2022

🌻 Read what I see:

1. Colds and flu

1. Relevant studies have repeatedly proved that the intake of 1 gram or more of vitamin C per day can reduce the chance of colds, reduce the degree of colds, and shorten the course of the disease.

During a cold epidemic, the right nutrition can be combined with immune-boosting nutrients to produce better results.

2. Dietary principles

(1) Avoid all dairy products, do not eat eggs, and do not consume excessive meat and soy.

(2) Supply your body with high-energy pure foods and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and fruit and vegetable juices.

(3) Drink cat's claw tea 3 times a day to enhance immunity.

3. Nutrient supplements

(1) 2 tablets of multivitamin and minerals

(2) 2 tablets of antioxidant complex

(3) 2 tablets of 1000 mg vitamin C complex (only after infection need to take 4 grams every 4 hours)

(4) elderberry extract (only required after infection; 1 medium tablespoon 4 times a day)

(5) Echinacea drops (2~3 times a day, 10 drops each time)

2. Sinusitis

1, symptoms:

(1) Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses and nasal cavity area, which usually leads to sinus infection.

(2) The causative factor is a substance that irritates the nose, such as exhaust gases, cigarettes, smoky environments, dust and pollen.

Allergies are also an important factor, usually mucus foods such as dairy products and wheat, combined with a weakened immune system, which eventually leads to sinusitis.

(3) Too much alcohol, fried food or stress, lack of adequate sleep, too much eating, etc. will weaken the immune system.

(4) Vitamin A, vitamin C and zinc, together with other nutrients, help strengthen immunity. Essential fats are also needed to control inflammation.

2. Dietary advice

(1) Eat lightly and happily, but remember to eat plenty of essential foods, such as the best organic fruits and vegetables (freshly sprouted tender vegetables), and plant seeds.

(2) Protein (derived from quinoa, seeds, nuts, fish, tofu, vegetable meat, etc.) is required), but avoid such as milk, eggs, and meat.

(3) Inhalation of tea tree oil can make you no longer suffer from nasal congestion. It can be used in water while bathing or sniffing before bringing the oil to your nose (be careful not to overstimulate your skin).

(4) Drink some homemade ginger cinnamon tea (5 pieces of fresh ginger and 1 piece of cinnamon, placed in a thermos with 0.3 liters of boiling water) or cat's claw tea to strengthen the immune system.

3. Nutrient supplements

(1) 2 tablets of multivitamin and minerals

(2) 2 tablets of antioxidant complex

(3) 2 tablets of 1000 mg of vitamin C (only after infection need to take 3 g every 4 hours)

(4) 2 tablets of 2270 mcg of vitamin A (taken in case of infection), or 1 cup of carrot juice

(5) 2 tablets of 15 mg zinc

🌻 Read My Thoughts:

Avoid all dairy products, eggs, and excess meat and soy, as these foods are mucusy.

Supplementation requires protein (derived from quinoa, seeds, nuts, fish, tofu, vegetable meats, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and fruit and vegetable juices.
