Luohu sits on "one mountain and four lakes"
It enjoys the reputation of "half landscape and half city"
It not only provides a comfortable living environment for residents
It also provides a suitable habitat for the flora and fauna of the jurisdiction

The first round of biodiversity background survey has been basically completed
In order to systematically grasp the status of species diversity such as species richness, key protected species and regional endemic species in Luohu District, evaluate the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation and identify conservation gaps, in May 2022, the Luohu Management Bureau of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment launched the investigation and monitoring of biodiversity in key areas such as Wutong Mountain, Donghu Park, Shenzhen Reservoir, Honghu Park and Yinhushan Country Park in Luohu District, involving ferns, gymnosperms, angiosperms and other wild plants, mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, Multiple groups of organisms such as butterflies. As of November, the first round of investigation has been largely completed with encouraging results.
Biodiversity "digging up"
What method is used?
Revealed for you
Plant survey, using a combination of sample and line method. Mammals are mainly investigated using the sample point method (infrared camera, etc.); Birds, animals and butterflies were investigated by transect method, and the transects covered various habitat types in key areas (also diurnal mammals and diurnal reptiles); Amphibians and reptiles use the typical habitat line method, which is mainly carried out at night.

As of November, the cumulative length of plant transect surveys was 56.46 km, and the total length of animal transect surveys was 76.12 km. Among them, there are 10 bird transects with a cumulative length of 53.5km, 3 amphibian and reptile transects with a cumulative length of 8.47km, and 5 butterfly transects with a cumulative length of 34.57km.
235 species of plants and 103 species of animals were recorded

The survey recorded a total of 235 species of plants in 173 genera in 90 families, including 178 species of wild plants in 133 genera in 79 families, and 57 species of 42 genera in 22 families of cultivated plants, including 3 species of national second-class protected plants with large populations, including Agarwood, Golden Retriever and Platy.

Agarwood
(Aquilaria sinensis)
The Hong Kong double butterfly (Tripterospermum nienkui) is a perennial winding herb with a type specimen collected from Hong Kong in 1930 and is one of only two gentian plants in the mountains of Shenzhen.
A total of 103 species of animals in 20 orders, 56 families and 103 species were recorded in the survey area. Among them, infrared cameras recorded 10 species of mammals in 6 orders, 8 families, and multiple cameras in Wutong Mountain Area captured the figure of the national second-class protected animal leopard cat, as well as the "three haves" protected animals weasel badger, civet, wild boar, etc.

A total of 54 species of birds in 45 genera in 10 orders, 28 families were recorded, including 6 species of national second-class key protected birds, namely black kite, brown-winged crow, thrush, white-breasted jade, crow and snake eagle. The "three haves" protected animals include the red-eared bulbul, the white-headed bulbul, the black-collared noisy stork, the golden-eyed plover, and the pond herons.

A total of 9 species of amphibians in 2 orders, 8 families, 9 genera, and 6 species in 4 genera in 3 orders, 4 families and 4 families of reptiles were recorded. Among them, 1 species of national second-class key protected animal is Hong Kong newt; There are three endemic species, namely the white-thorned turbulent frog, the Liu's palm toad, and the Hong Kong posterior prismatic snake.
◀ Hong Kong 瘰 (luǒ) 螈 (yuán)
(Paramesotriton hongkongensis)
Hong Kong newt is a species of salamander family, salamander family, salamander genus, known as "deep forest elf", is a species at the same time as the dinosaur era, has high requirements for the living environment, likes clean and clear water with less pollution, there are Hong Kong newts living places, the ecological environment is better.
◀ White-thorn turbulent frog (Amolops albispinus)
The white-thorn turbulent frog is an amphibian that was discovered as endemic to Shenzhen in 2014, mainly distributed in the mountain chain in eastern Shenzhen. This frog develops a special structure during the breeding period, that is, it has conical white spines in its temporal area (except the tympanic membrane), cheek area and lip. The white-thorn turbulent frog inhabits mountain streams at altitudes of 60-500 meters, and is currently known to be mainly distributed in Wutong Mountain, and a small number of Paiya Mountain. According to the IUCN Red List of Endangered Status, it meets the critically endangered (CR) status, which is more endangered than endangered level pandas.
Black-eyed toad (Bufo melanostictus)
Spot-legged pantree frog (Polypedates megacephalus)
The black-eyed toad and the spot-legged pan-tree frog are typical toads and frogs in Shenzhen. Black-eyed toads are larger, females are generally larger than males, short legs and fat bodies, strong climbing ability, and can only jump small. The spot-legged pantree frog has moist skin, moves near the water, has long legs and strong jumping ability, and preys on small insects as well as snakes and birds, which is an important role in maintaining the dynamic balance of urban ecosystems.
A total of 27 species of butterflies in 1 order and 9 families were recorded, among which the blue-spotted purple-spotted butterfly and the small leopard butterfly were more recorded.
