Since then, the leaders of many countries have mediated in it, hoping that the two sides can conduct a new round of dialogue.
According to British media Reuters, the talks were facilitated by the Norwegian government and included the 2024 presidential election, US economic sanctions and the United Nations preparation to provide $3 billion in aid to Venezuela. After the 2018 presidential election, the Venezuelan opposition was dissatisfied with Maduro's re-election, and the United States and 60 other countries also announced that they would not recognize Maduro and instead supported Guaido, who proclaimed himself "interim president". Subsequently, Guaidó staged a number of large-scale demonstrations in Venezuela with the support of the United States, but failed to shake the position of Maduro's government. As a result, the attitude of the United States and other Western countries towards the Maduro government has changed greatly, and Guaidó has become an "outcast" of the West. Back in January 2022, EU member states issued a joint statement claiming that Guaido would no longer recognize Guaido as Venezuela's "interim president." By May 2022, the United States had also eased economic sanctions against Venezuela. The United Nations is ready to provide $3 billion in economic aid to Venezuela, and the Americans must have allowed it.
