On November 23, CDAC Rome held a rotating director handover ceremony at the Italian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with Mr. Xu Mengsheng as the third director and Chen Heping, Huang Zhixiao and Xu Lei as the third executive director. Huang Zhixiao, Executive Director of CDAC Roma Presided over the event, and the second rotating director Zeng Bufeng first summarized the work. During the epidemic, we will help overseas Chinese solve problems, safeguard their rights and interests, build a care platform, help vulnerable groups and extremely poor overseas Chinese, and pass on the care and warmth of the motherland government to our overseas Chinese. The CDAC Center in Rome distributed tens of thousands of anti-epidemic medicines, masks, disinfectant water and other materials for overseas Chinese, delivered door-to-door delivery to infected people in home isolation, and mailed countless couriers to overseas Chinese. CDAC volunteers took time to arrange vehicle pick-ups for overseas Chinese who do not speak the same language, successfully booked vaccinations for nearly 1,000 people, and arranged vehicle transportation for some vaccination sites in suburban areas with inconvenient transportation. At the same time, he assisted female overseas Chinese living on the streets to return to China, and in another case, the rescue lady was sent to the hospital for treatment after half a year, and after her condition was cured, she won a ticket to return to China and reunite with her family with the help of the embassy.

Mr. Xu Mengsheng, the third rotating director, said that CDAC Rome was recommended by the Chinese Consular Department in Italy. It is established by four overseas Chinese groups, namely the Italian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Rome Overseas Chinese Federation, the Italian Qingtian Hometown Association, and the Italian Overseas Chinese Youth Association, and implements the director rotation system every two years. I firmly believe that with the strong leadership of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Italy, the active cooperation of the four members of the CDAC Association, and the strong support of the fraternal overseas Chinese groups in Rome, CDAC Rome will certainly live up to its mission, we will uphold the tenet of "people-oriented, serve overseas Chinese", advocate the concept of "care, help and integration", and carry forward the spirit of "unity, mutual assistance, dedication and service". Guided by the needs of overseas Chinese, carry out targeted work, develop and form distinctive CDAC projects, and combine the difficulties and needs encountered by overseas Chinese, on the basis of the existing work of serving overseas Chinese, give full play to the capabilities and advantages of overseas Chinese groups or service organizations, so that the "CDAC Center" will gradually become a frontier "window" for serving overseas Chinese.

Guo Lin, a staff member of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, said that since its establishment five years ago, the CDAC Center in Rome has adhered to the work orientation of overseas Chinese compatriots running themselves, basing itself on overseas Chinese communities, facing the whole overseas Chinese, participating by all parties, and operating in accordance with the law, giving play to the role and potential of non-governmental service organizations for overseas Chinese, and making positive contributions in serving grassroots overseas Chinese and strengthening the unity and mutual assistance of overseas Chinese. During the epidemic, CDAC distributed tens of thousands of anti-epidemic materials to overseas Chinese free of charge. Assisted overseas Chinese to participate in the local government's vaccination program, provided free translation and consulting services for overseas Chinese, and assisted nearly 1,000 overseas Chinese to successfully vaccinate. CDAC Rome pays special attention to the demands of overseas Chinese in need at the grassroots level, assists compatriots suffering from mental illness to be treated and discharged from hospital, and assists in returning home safely. Cases such as the call to raise funds for the families of compatriots who died in the fire have been well received by all parties.
Guo Lin went on to say that the Chinese Embassy in Italy has always adhered to the "people-centered" development concept and attached great importance to consular protection and assistance in the consular district. In the future, we will continue to deeply practice the concept of "diplomacy for the people", make every effort to do a good job in consular protection and assistance, provide more efficient and convenient consular services, and become a strong backing for everyone overseas. The Embassy attaches great importance to the work of CDAC Rome and is willing to provide necessary support and assistance for the development and operation of CDAC Center.
