The Tasmanian devil is endemic to Tasmania, Australia, and it is the only member of the genus Tasmanian that is not extinct.

Why is the cute little guy called Tasmanian "devil"?

It turns out that in Tasmania, every nightfall, there is always a mad wail from the depths of the forest, turning the whole island into an "endless hell". As a result, they made such a stinging sound and were dubbed "demons" by the locals.

Researchers say the Tasmanian devil was previously widespread on the Australian mainland. It was only because the dingo was very fierce, and in this competition, the Tasmanian devil gradually lost its match that the population gradually became extinct on the Australian mainland island.

Finally, after moving to Tasmania, it avoided the harassment of the Australian dingo group, and the Tasmanian devil population slowly recovered, and this group of "little devils" finally had to settle down.

Singapore Zoo has introduced four of them, all of whom are three-year-old princesses with adorable names – Crumpet, Snickers, Jesse and Panini.

They are located at the end of the Wallaby trail, passing the territory of white wallabies, and you can see these cute babies.

Interestingly, on Tasmania, white wallabies and black Tasmanian devils are good neighbors who are inseparable.

According to Singapore Zoo expert Razak Jaffar, the four cuties have very different personalities.

Crumpet is a confident and domineering princess who spends hours touring her new home and is resistant to daily health checks.

Snickers are much more ladylike, obediently cooperate with every medical examination, and when Crumpet appears, she hides in her own haystack and does not want to come out.

Jesse and Panini formed a sister alliance, although it was quite plastic at the beginning, but after getting along, the friendship has improved rapidly, and now they are inseparable!

In order to introduce these four cute Tasmanian devils, Singapore began planning in 2018, and the related project is planned to be completed in 2020.

Experts have flown to Tasmania many times, and every contact trip with them must be accompanied by professional medical experts and guides.

Fortunately, after a lot of hardship, the little ones finally arrived in Singapore on October 7 this year, and after 30 days of quarantine and health checks, they met the public and began their wonderful life at Singapore Zoo.

In the same way as humans today, there are also special infectious diseases in the Tasmanian devil population, and they are transmitted when they bite and fight each other every day.

As a result, the Tasmanian devil population has decreased by 80% since 1996 and is now listed as an endangered species. According to the Singapore Zoo website, the four little princesses introduced this time also shoulder the responsibility of drawing attention to the protection of their populations.
