Israel & Jordan (12) Jordan was historically part of Palestine. Canaanites, Jews, Greeks, Romans and Arabs all left their footprints here. Around 630 AD, Jordan was incorporated into the Arab Empire and began to embrace Islam. After World War I, the Ottoman Empire disintegrated and Palestine (including Jordan) became a British mandate. In 1921, the British divided Palestine in two, the West Bank was still called Palestine, the east bank of the river became the Emirate of Transjordan, and Hussein's second son Abdullah was appointed as the emir (emir is the Arabic pronunciation, which is the name of the upper class ruler, prince and military governor in Islamic countries).

On April 18, 1946, the United Nations recognized the independence of Transjordan. On May 25, Abdullah ascended the throne as the "Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan" (now known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan), and the ruler was changed from an emir to a king. The title "Hashem" comes from the famous chief of the Ghulai tribe in Mecca. Hashem is a sixth-generation descendant of the tribal chief Kurash. And Qurash is a descendant of the prophet Ismaili, the son of the prophet Ibrahim (known to Jews as Abraham). Hashem's real name is Amur. Amur resolutely decided to open a warehouse to help the people in a once-in-a-century drought, so that people could avoid this catastrophe. Therefore, the tribesmen gave him the title of "Hashem". Hashemite means "the one who breaks the bread" in Arabic.
