The U.S. Navy announced it had intercepted a fishing vessel from Iran bound for Yemen in the Gulf of Oman, carrying more than 70 tons of aluminum perchlorate and more than 100 tons of urea fertilizer. Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the US Navy in the Middle East, said the chemicals could be used to make explosives, rockets and missile fuel, "which is a large amount of explosive material, depending on the size, enough to fuel a dozen medium-range ballistic missiles,"
