There is a fascinating species in the world, widely distributed in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. In the mainland, its distribution range extends from the south of the Qinling Mountains in the north, to the South China Sea in the south, from the Daliang Mountains of Sichuan and Tengchong and Yingjiang in Yunnan in the west to the coastal areas of Fujian, Zhejiang and Taiwan in the east, and is in the humid subtropics of the mainland. There are many species and a wide range of subjects, and one type resembles the legendary dragon in China, so it is called "Chinese dragon".

The creature, called a salamander, resembles a crawling lizard with a flattened tail. Their skin is moist and sticky, but there are no scales on the body surface, and unlike frogs, they are very distinctly colored—either with striking markings or with comb-like protrusions, short limbs, and no webbed feet. Salamanders have poor vision and mainly rely on olfactory predation, feeding on tadpoles, frogs, small fish, wives, water fleas, etc. The salamander known as the "Chinese dragon" is called the blind salamander, which is similar in skin color to humans and is an amphibian, but they do not like to see sunlight since birth. Because of living in the dark all year round, the eyes have almost degenerated to the point of being unable to see. In addition, blind salamanders have a lifespan of nearly 100 years, and it is hard to imagine that they all spend such long years blindly.
Salamanders crawl very slowly wherever they are, and they can use their tails to speed up their walking. Like fungi, salamanders are mostly bright and beautiful, but they are poisonous. The tail of salamanders can secrete a glue-like substance, and when they whip the snake's head mouth with its tail, the snake's mouth is sticky. Sometimes, a long snake is glued to the mucus of a salamander. The very small gland of the salamander also contains a deadly bacterium, and can use this bacterium to produce a toxin, which is tetrodotoxin.
I believe that many friends who know about salamanders may not know how strong their regenerative ability is, and the tissue regeneration process of salamanders will not produce scars, almost perfectly replicating the parts before the damage. This miraculous ability is aided by an immune cell called a "macrophage," which, if controlled, could help scientists control the process of salamander regeneration, and even apply it to humans. If macrophages are systematically eliminated, salamanders lose their ability to regenerate limbs and form scar tissue. Therefore, studying the regenerative ability of salamanders is extremely valuable.
