According to reports, "Canadian goldenrod" is native to North America and is a global invasive species, mainly growing on wasteland, farmland and both sides of highways. The height of the plant can reach about 2.5 meters, far exceeding the height of adults, the front of the leaf is rough, the leaf veins are three veins from the base, and the leaf edge is serrate. It has fast growth rate, developed rhizome, strong fecundity, fast transmission speed and strong ecological adaptability. Once colonized, it will compete with surrounding plants for sunlight, growth space and fertilizer, and extremely squeeze the growth space of other plants until other plants die, which can be described as "yellowing over, no grass", posing a serious threat to the diversity of biological species in the invasion area, so it is called "ecological killer".
The staff eradicated the "Canadian goldenrod" plant found at the scene, and the municipal and district plant quarantine experts also suggested that Caoxi Cultural Square organize personnel to conduct an investigation, and while its seeds were not yet mature, they were uprooted in time and treated centrally. The relevant person in charge of the Qujiang Agriculture and Rural Bureau said that he would continue to pay attention to the removal of "Canadian goldenrod" in Caoxi Cultural Square, and reminded the public that once the wild population of "Canadian goldenrod" is found, they should contact the local forestry department, agricultural department or environmental protection department in time to deal with it.
